To give folks a better feel for the difference, here are some side-by-side shots of two Launch Green R1Ts, one with Stealth, and one without. Also, two pics from the shop with a sample of Stealth applied to the hood.

interesting. On its own I thought the matte look was really cool, but side by side I like the original finish better. Needless to say it’s all subjective and both are unique colors. But I would probably not go with matte on my truck if I did it. But id be curious what Limestone looks like with stealth matte PPF….

Out of curiosity, how does this PPF stay stuck to the panels? And if there's some form of adhesive (which I assume) - when you pull it off 3-5 years from now - how likely is it the paint's factory condition is maintained?

Does anyone have actual experience with removing PPF down the road. I know in theory it should be no problem. But..... I have a suction-cup phone mount in one of my cars. In theory that should have been non-marring as well. But, it wasn't - left a permanent mark on the dash.

I've had PPF removed from two cars. One after four years, one after three. For both, it removed without any damage and the paint underneath looked nearly new. There is some form of adhesive used and my guess is not all shops use the same as the four year car I was able to remove and clean without much trouble. The three year car was done at a different shop, and there was quite a bit of adhesive left on the paint that was a PITA to remove. I ended up paying a few hundred dollars to have the residue removed vs spending days doing it myself.

To your question, I hope never to find out! ?

As with Xpel Gloss/Clear, it will deny the littlest of rocks from chipping and denting the surface, and will also prevent the "pinstriping" caused by light brush, but it won't stop all damage. Bigger items will do less damage, but its not full body armor, by any means. That said, the self-healing aspect of Xpel will help the surface of the PPF to rebound from light dimples and scratches/striations, while the thickness of it will keep most items from getting to, or damaging the paint.

When in dry, dusty or sandy areas, that flat front surface should be spared the sandblasting that will normally come with it. Same with preventing bugs from making a mess out of that pretty face. Also, as the front lightbar/headlight combo is covered with the Clear Xpel, it will be spared the little indignities of life on the road (and off).

To your first point, it will be fun sometime down the road when it's taken off and it more closely resembles a new paint job in a color tied solely to this first offering. I'll call it "Relaunch Green". ?

It's certainly not for everyone, but when getting it protected, I figured why not change up the look. Luckily for me, I like the result, especially the non-glossy hood when driving toward the Sun or with bright lights above at night.

We're scheduled to have Summer on a weekend this year, so my pale green Oregon eyes have that going for them, which is nice. ?

Just for grins and giggles, here are a few more shots of the Stealthy R1T outside. Again, our weekend called Summer is still three months away, so pardon the cloudy skies. If you doubt me, check out the last two pics. Last Thursday we were in the high 70's, and today we awoke to snow on the ground.

As we say here, "April showers bring May showers..."
