Snow Socks on 20" AT setup

thanks for the reply. In reading prior posts, I went out and picked up some of the ISSE snow socks. Their distributors are all out of size 80 which is what their website recommends. However, the shop I purchased at suggested I stop by since they never really tested on our wheels before. We were able to fit size 78 without issue. One caveat is that there are two types: red and white. The red didn’t fit but the white fit perfectly. It’s supposed to snow this weekend. I’ll let you know how it turns out if I have to use them.

As ekirkpatrick said, same thing happened with me. My Guide said she forwarded it to the powers to be, but we haven't heard anything. Same with the Service Center Manager.

The other recent thread on snow socks mention the AutoSock AL69 fit nicely.

None are cheap. But worth every penny when you'll need them.

I'm still looking for that other ISSE model:

I drove my R1T in snow mode up a mountain to 6,000 ft. elevation in a blizzard and the road was as white as the air. No chains or socks. In addition my 2 front 21" all weather Parelli tires were worn down to the tread bar and at 1mm tread depth. That is to say they were not knoby or even enough treat to meet dry road conditions. The truck did not even slide or even feel like it was slipping at all. The road was steeper than 7% slope and windy. I of course was driving at between 5 to 10 MPH, but that was because of vision requirements, I was trying to see the road.
So, the snow mode is with the Quad system and worth it. However, snow mode sucks the watts right out of the batteries and shortens the range in addition to the cold temperature.

"sucks the waste right out" is a bit of an over exaggeration". It basically reduces acceleration and reduces regen to keep you from skidding/fish tailing due to regen braking. It doesn't actually use more power excepting the reduction in regen (which isn't that much unless you are traveling downhill....

I have 20" wheels with Toyo Open Country AT III tires on them. I bought AL69 AutoSocks for them. Last weekend I was unable to make it up my steep and slick driveway on the good-tread tires alone. (I slid off twice, my wife with studded snows slid off twice.) I got the truck unstuck and onto a flat-ish spot of the driveway, and put two snow socks on the front wheels. I'd estimate it took me about 30 seconds for each tire, then get in and drive forward 4 feet, and another 10 seconds at each tire pulling the last of the "fitted sheet" over the top. It literally took longer to figure out how to open the package without a knife (it's sealed shut with a tough sticker, and beyond that the plastic handles are hard to separate) than it did to put them on.

I then drove up the driveway--that I could not summit before on multiple attempts--with zero slipping. I later drove a mile down my steep mountain road--that I had slipped and slid on coming up an hour prior--with no slipping or sliding. Got to the bottom, popped them off in less time than it took to put them on, and drove away happy.
