I took delivery of my R1S in late September and have 5K+ miles on it. When we took delivery the steering wheel made a clicking grinding noise when it would turn.
Scheduled or service Nov. 5th to fix that and a few other things like misaligned A pillar trim, rear passenger exterior window trim wasn’t properly seated, and center console drivers side button didn’t work.
Portland, OR SC did a great job communicating but had to order extra parts and fixed most of them and rescheduled repair to yesterday. In the last month the new steering wheel module started to click again ever so faintly. I drove with a service tech and he said it isn’t super common like they have replaced maybe 6 in their service center but common enough they are working on a redesign. Basically there is a metal spring that compresses and decompressed to maintain electrical contact for the drive by wire that squeaks. Nothing to be concerned about but more annoying than anything.
The people at the Portland SC have been great and Rivian compared to legacy OEM’s has been great as well.
I’m supposed to get it back tomorrow and with my new spare in the trunk! I can send pics of the layout once I get it if there is interest.
