Oh man! That SUCKS big time. So sorry to hear it . What is that on the ground? Looks like a monroney sticker
Not sure but pretty sure it was there on the ground when I pulled into the spot. Didn't come out of my truck.

I would prefer for Rivian to do the work. I'm going on a trip in a few weeks and will be gone for 10 days so my hope would be that Rivian can take it in then and do the work while I'm gone and get it billed to insurance. That would obviously be best case scenario but not sure if my insurance is going to want to arrange the shop through their network.
Rivian sends body work out to shops that they certify.

Got my truck yesterday. Driving home tonight from a friend's house, and a deer decided it's his time and bolts straight into the driver door of the truck.

Literally second day of ownership.

Ouch!

As much as I love the R1T this is one of the reasons why I also have a reservation on a Cybertruck. The lack of paint maintenance and 3mm thick SS body panels sold me immediately. I really didn’t care what the truck looked like but I find the wedge styling attractive in a futuristic way.

The biggest thing the CT has going for it regarding getting hit by a deer (or any animal really) is that it really can't look any worse than it already does. A little impact damage might actually improve it.

Yep I just talked to Rivian service this morning to find the right body shop for the estimate. I'm going on a trip to Seattle next week and will be there for 10 days so I'm hopeful they can knock it all out while I'm gone.

I was on the same page as you until I went to see the the truck in person at the Peterson Museum in LA. I didn’t place my reservation until the day after the reveal because I thought the reveal truck was a joke. I thought Elons team would roll the REAL concept truck onto the stage in a few minutes.

I was blown away when I first gazed my eyes on the truck parked behind velvet ropes at the museum. The Cybertruck looks WAY better in person than seen in two dimensional photos and videos. The vehicle looks like it was designed by alien creatures from another planet. It definitely has that futuristic Blade Runner vibe. It has to be seen in person before making a judgement on the styling. The styling is polarizing for sure. You either love it or hate it.

Tesla took down the MSRP webpage so who knows what the truck will sell for IF it ever goes into production. I’m predicting $89,900 + destination fee.

Lol... it is a polarizing design that's fore sure. I imagine it will cause quite a stir at the local HD or Lowes parking lot if it's ever actually produced.

Sorry to hear about your run-in with the deer... you wait all this time for your truck and get to use it for just two short days before having to lay it up. God has quite the sense of humor some times...

Are 100% of the R1T exterior panels aluminum?

IIRC, speculation is the main body stampings are some sort of Rivian exclusive custom steel/aluminum alloy that is semi-ferrous. I believe the door panels, hood and front fenders are straight aluminum.

I felt the same way when I saw the reveal until it became slowly obvious it was no joke. Unfortunately as the Cybertruck has moved towards production it’s gotten uglier as the practicalities of making it production viable have changed some elements. And for the guys who think they are getting a truck with the promised specs for $39,990 I have some oceanfront property in AZ for ya

“If a deer hit CT on the road“ is just the new version of ”If a tree falls in the woods” quote.

What hurt the R1T is the fact that deer didn’t see it. What protects CT is not the steel. It is the fact that it is not there to be seen.

I do get your point though. I am all for maintenance free, long lasting products and I have a CT reservation too but I am not holding my breath. And as attractive as Tesla charging sounds, if I cheat on Rivian with something, it will likely be Silverado.

The Ram, though a ways out, sounds pretty enticing too.

Maybe try the hot glue stick pull trick to pull the dent out and then touch up paint when it's available.
For someone not privy… elaborate on hot glue trick lol… had a similar issue come up myself.

*psa there are some fairly substantial blind spots in our 360 cameras…* backed right into the brush guard on this truck parked behind me (sticking outta his spot by like 3.5 feet) and never once showed up in the camera… time to go back to the old fashioned mirrors only method of reversing.
