I have had Tidal for a couple of years and assumed the subscription was tied to the truck. However, after my wife got a new phone (staying with an iPhone, and cloned at an Apple store), she can no longer access Tidal. It wants her to login, which I've done (using the only credentials I have for TIdal) but it doesn't like it. It is as if Tidal is no longer associated with the truck, but rather my phone? While we both like TIdal, she only uses it when driving the truck so it makes no sense to buy a 'family plan'. In the meantime, I activated the Sirius/XM trial subscription, which is associated with the vehicle. Is this an option with TIdal or do I just replace TIdal with Sirius/XM?

With Tidal you don’t need the family plan to listen in your truck and on your phone. BUT…if you and the wife want to keep separate playlists and mixes then the family plan allows you to have separate tidal accounts under each of your emails while paying a single sub that’s at least a couple dollars cheaper than having separate accounts.

The truck is a separate device and the subs are tied to your email not a specific device.

So when replacing the phone, since it’s a new device, you will need to associate that device with a Tidal account.

is it possible when you setup the family account that your wife has her own account under her own email?

I would login to your tidal account and look at the family section to see if that is indeed the case. If so, just reset her password and activate the new device.

So strange as neither of us have Tidal on our phones. I just accessed it initially via my computer and when I log on my computer, it shows the account as Rivian. Since the last update zapped my TIdal acct credentials, I need to set it back up again in the RIvian. Perhaps that will take care of things?

If you only listen in the Rivian and do not use on your other devices then yes.

IIRC you will need to login on your phone or PC and enter a code shown on the Rivian screen to activate the app in the Rivian.

The account is independent of the vehicle but as of 2024.43, the media accounts are tied to the driver profile. Did changing phones result in the creation of a new driver profile (I haven't had to do this yet myself) wiping out your previous Tidal login? I would expect that logging into Tidal again under your wife's driver profile and with your Tidal account credentials (which are valid on any device) should resolve your issue. You mentioned Tidal "didn't like that" but didn't indicate what kind of error you got.

I had to setup Tidal after the last update zapped it. I haven't had a chance to see if that fixes things for my wife. Now I can't swear to the exact process that I used to replace her old phone with her new; however, the RIvian only shows the two profiles.
