Tire installation shop recommendation

I need to get new tires for my R1S. Costco is my usual go-to but they don't have the 22" HL Michelin Defender LTX M/S and will not install the XL which is what I want. I can buy the XL variant from tirerack but could use recommendation on where to go to get the tires installed. Looking for a shop in the DMV area that you have used and has experience with Rivians. I have the jack pucks to bring with me. Thanks!

I had the XL version installed at Costco. They had no issue, even after checking the load index to make sure its fine for the R1S.

I would go back and talk to them or try a different Costco in the area.

I just have recent tire change at America’s Tire also as known as Discount Tire everywhere else outside of California. I watched while they work and even drove up to the service bay myself. I popped open the jack points already just to be sure.

You must personally supervise the work. They will tell you that they have done lots of them but when you watch half the time they don't have a clue.

I purchased my Rivian AS tires from a local auto shop that always did good work on my ICE vehicles. Their pricing was only slightly more than it would have been from a national warehouse chain. The shop also mounted and balanced the tires on after-market wheels that I purchased elsewhere, and fitted them to my R1T. I did have to provide them with the jacking pucks, and walked them through the procedure on the truck's manual. The service manager was happy to spend the time learning the proper procedure for Rivians, and even remarked that the use of the pucks was something they did routinely did with some Corvettes over the years.

I trust this shop, and they have always done good work at fair prices. I plan to use them for anything not Rivian-specific like tire rotation. Understand that this may not be an option for all but if it is, IMO it's far preferable than giving your money to a giant, anonymous national retailer.

^^^ we made epoxy dome emblems for the jack point covers to help minimize the countless number of shops not lifting our Rivian's from the correct location.

In the DMV area, @kanundrum recommended PTuning. I haven't used them yet (going to buy new tires like, next month), but I've spoken to them and they work with tirerack and their prices seem reasonable.

Thanks and yes they know rivians really well have worked on mine exclusively as well as a 10+ others if i recall.

Reading the comments in here confirm my decision of getting my old ass out in the garage and rotating the tires myself lol.

I take the Tesla to discount for rotations and that’s always fine, just didn’t trust them with the Rivian quite yet

Hey all. Just wanted to let you know that I went to Radial Tire Co in Silver Spring, MD. Highly recommend, professional shop. It gets VERY CROWDED so my advice is to book it Mon-Thu, if possible.

Had bad luck with them and my rivian, i had to show them how to mount TPMS? Not really sure why lol.
