Tire snow chains or cables for R1T

I’m going to Eastern Sierras in CA and will need to carry snow cables/chains with me.

I have the 275/55/21 Scorpion tires.

I purchased Quality Chains Volt QV757 low profile (SAE class) cables which according to the website should fit my tires but they are way too loose for my comfort even with the tighteners on.

can someone recommend something that will fit and meets Rivians low profile requirements. Thanks!

Rivian only recommends using snow socks for traction. Using cables or chains could damage your vehicle. I’ve never used them personally, but you should be able to find some recommendations here in the forum from those who have.

I'm trying the LaClede Alpha Trax. They're webbing-based, and meet the Class S clearance requirements.

I have the 22", and LaClede recommended the AT-747 size. They don't fit. I think as in this video, the correct size (definitely for the 21") is the AT-751 size.

There have been a few posts here of people using snow socks and their experiences seemed positive. Even one I recall seeing for winter towing that was quite impressive. I almost bought a set myself for the 21’s on our truck. You can get them directly from their website or on Amazon.

I have the autosocks and tried them on for fitting but never get to use it. I carry it just in case when the necessity comes.

Not sure where that came from, but I do recall people here who have run the low profile cables without issue. I think you would be good either way. I was just sharing what the owner’s guide said about it.

I bought the autotrac self tightening chains for my tires, 275/50r22 and 275/60r20. I test for them to check the clearance but have not had to use them in the snow yet. I doubt they would fit the 275/65r20 tire size as the tensioners are about at their limit on my tires.

I've used chains my whole life and especially on a four wheel drive truck there shouldn't be any reason why you should not be able to use any type of chains you want safely. Having said that I watched a video on YouTube that showed that the socks worked better then chains.
