Finally after exactly 4 years of waiting I took delivery 6-21 of my R1S. Love it! I can tell you I am always worried about running low on juice. I just need to relax.

only issue I have noticed is at high speed ( 80+) the steering wheel shakes pretty violently. Enough to wind my automatic watch. Lol. I assume this is the steering alignment I have read about.

there was also a PPF tear on the hood. Small but noticeable.

that is it for complaints and to me that is very minor.

Probably need to get a road force balancing. Also Rivian needs a heavier steering wheel to help dampen some of the shake.

@MidnightRivian was wondering what exactly to ask for at service. Thank you!

It all depends on if the service center has a road force balancer or not.

You might need to go to discount tire to have them perform a high speed road force balancing using their machines.

Just get a lifetime plan from them for the life of the tire and maybe some certificates incase you get a blowout or nail in the sidewall.

you can just mention the steering wheel shake to the service center at 45 mph - 90 mph and get its worse the faster you go.

also mention alignment if you have any steering issues or pulling one way or another.

the heavier steering request is feedback you could submit to help dampen some of the shake if balancing doesn’t remove it fully.

i believe Rivian should’ve gone with a heavier and tighter steering.

I just brought mine in for service and they are replacing the steering wheel with one that is 1/2 lbs heavier (just released) which is supposed to dampen this issue.

I got the new steering wheel 2 weeks ago.

It helps but there’s still a high speed shake over 80 mph.

Needs to be re-balanced and aligned after the new heavier wheel.

Service center confirmed they also have a road force balancer.
