20" Inch TPMS, transfer or replace?

Against better judgment (and tempted by Black Friday sales), I’m contemplating aftermarket wheels; probably Black Rhino Voltaic. My question is how feasible is it to swap factory TPMS to the new wheels without damaging them, or should I just replace them? I see multiple vendors offering aftermarket sensors, either as part of the wheel package or on the side. If factory sensors would be transferred easily, then new sensors would be an expense I could skip?

Replace. They are not that expensive. Better to sell your old ones as a set with them in (or have a snow tire set). BTW they are about $50 on Amazon.

TPMS sensors have a battery with a limited life. The more you drive the sooner the battery wears out. Your tire shop should be able to scan them and give you some idea of the life left in them. Moving them to new tires is possible, some shops may hesitate because of a risk of damaging a valve stem seal.

I have only 7k miles on my factory wheels. Doubt they will go bad anytime soon. But for sake of making factory wheels more sellable… I suppose that’s worth considering.
