Turn off screen torch mode when reversing?

Is there a way to turn off the super bright back up screen when reversing? I've never owned a vehicle that uses the same brightness level on the reverse camera screen at night as it does on a bright sunny day. Every other vehicle would dim the brightness down to accommodate the actual ambient lighting. I'm hoping it's a bug and not intended to be this bright.

I haven’t had this issue. It stays at whatever brightness the screen is set. I wonder if it is an option somewhere. Hopefully it is a simple fix!

I'd like an independent brightness control for each screen.
When I shut down the car with the screens at their lowest light settings, they stay at the lowest light settings when the car powers up. Just to pause here & say: I like the lowest light setting. It's what I like for driving in the dark. It's so perfect that I can't see it in the daylight & I'm privileged to have to swipe randomly in the screen area where I'm pretty sure I'll find it. Cataract surgery didn't help.

Independent brightness controls or a setting for a default "start up" brightness.

Your sample size is too small to claim that no other cars do this. Our Honda CR-V does the exact same thing. I agree it is very distracting and annoying. The good news appears to be that NHTSA is aware of this complaint and is seeking comment on FMVSS 111 regarding overly bright camera screens.

If they aren't bright enough to follow the regulations, then yes. Initial image in the display has to meet the requirements for the illumination test. There is no nighttime illumination test. IMO this is a failing of the regulation, as your complaint is not unique.

The ambient illumination conditions in which testing is conducted requires that light be evenly distributed from above and at an intensity of between 7,000 lux and 10,000 lux, as measured at the center of the exterior surface of the vehicle’s roof
