Before the last update, every time I closed the app on my phone, I’d get a popup at the top saying the app needed to be running to start the vehicle—or something along those lines. Since the update, that message no longer appears. Even more surprising, I can now press the brake and the car starts, even if the app isn’t running.

Anyone else noticing this?

On Android I think it asked for permission to run in the background on first install - granted and never looked back.

Check location service, on iPhones you can set it to always or only when app is running. I have mine set to only when app is running so I can force close my app and it does not unlock my vehicle, I am not sure if it lets me start it but would guess probably not. Not near the vehicle now to test.
