Unresponsive Cameras

All my cameras are totally unresponsive—just black screens. When I shift into reverse, it shows a black screen with a message: “Reset Software. Shift to park. Then press both buttons for 15 seconds.” I’ve done about three soft resets and even a hard reset, but no luck. Same message keeps popping up and the cameras are still dead.

I called Rivian and they walked me through putting the truck into a “deep sleep” cycle to see if that fixes it in about 45 minutes. But honestly, I’m not super confident that’ll do the trick.

Not sure if it’s just a weird coincidence, but I used Enhanced Highway Assist for the first time yesterday and it worked great. But after I got home, locked the truck, and came back to it the next day—that’s when the cameras stopped working. The timing seems too perfect to ignore.

Any advice? I’ve got a trip planned in a few weeks, but the service center can’t get me in until May.

Disconnect it and wait for a couple of minutes. I've never actually done one, but that's what Rivian techs call a hard reset, as it goes further than what the hazard light reset does.

Ehhhh thanks for the advice but I just watched a video on how to do that and I don’t feel comfortable doing that, pretty intensive which is why they don’t recommend that as an option. Plus it might not even fix the issue. I’m hoping either the next software update comes out before my trip and that fixes it or they can get me in before my May apt. The service center is calling me back on Monday since they are closed on the weekends. It’s just sort of a bummer because it’s going be embarrassing that it’s my first long road trip and I have no cameras and for the price of these trucks it’s crazy that it’s an issue after just 1,000 miles… love the truck but man…. It’s not a good look when people on the road trip with me with laugh that I have no cameras what so ever after I have talked it up so much. And I was really looking forward to using the Driver+ on this trip.

Deep sleep reset rivian recommended did nothing. What a huge let down before my first big road trip. Cameras are completely unresponsive.

Just a stab in the dark, but have you tried reformatting your drive cam storage device? Or possibly just unplugging and replugging it?

I don’t have anything plugged into my drive cam and have never set it up. But it’s all of my cameras, reverse, side, front, everything.

Update on this, the service center had my truck for about a week. They claimed it was one part that was VIN specific and described it as a chip similar to how cellphones used to have sim cards, so they didn't have it in the shop. They had to order it, but luckily it came in time and they were able to get it back to me before my trip.
