I honestly don’t understand why there appears to be so much problem variance among vehicles. This cannot be anything but lack of quality control.

My 23 Gen1 has been pretty solid. I had two service visits, one for moisture in the rear tail light and a recent second for a rough suspension. The suspension was something I lived with for a while and decided to include a check during my normal 7500k service. I cannot remember the last time I rebooted anything.
Gen2 is just buggier (still due to lack of QC IMO). Gen1 misses out on all the flashy new features, but you're locked into a rock solid environment for the most part. Miss that about my Gen1, although I for once, am having no problems with this update. I'm enjoying UHF even if it has a long way to go. It's a solid improvement. First bug free update for my 2025 in months (maybe ever?).

Gen 2 R1S here , I have the problem with the HVAC. The heat just keeps coming, set the temp to low should blow cold air nope still blowing heat. Had to roll window down to cool off, and yes did a reboot.

Get ready for all the fan boys to tell you “just reboot or hard restart and all will be well” or “I’ve never had any issues with my truck, I don’t know what your issue is boomer.”
Surprised they aren’t here already. Usually there is a “I just bought the car to drive” and a “Why are you whining about little bugs” guy in the first few posts of any thread like this.

I have gen 1 and had the heater go to 85 when i tried to put it past 71 and would not return until i did a reboot. Have not dared to put heat above 71 since as i don't want the whole trip to be 85!

Also notice that my gear guard motion sensors are recording every minute, all night long and in particular when in the rain. Not sure if I've got a sensor bad or if it's just dirty but something is causing it to record every minute, stop, then start recording again, which is draining power too.

I’ve noticed that if you have a climate schedule set and get in the car and drive before it’s at the set temperature that the climate schedule overrides the driver or passenger climate inputs even if its past the time on the schedule. For example you’ll change the temperature and then three seconds later it’ll change it back to what is set in the schedule. To fix it turn off the schedule.

I think I may have experienced this. I turn off auto when entering the vehicle to exit the schedule. I believe I’m exiting the schedule. This is something Rivian needs to fix. The schedule should shutoff when the vehicle is started.

Once in a while I see unusual things on my dash screens. The other day in the charge/energy window, the Gary guy was not happy with the amount of power I used while parked for a few hours. I noticed it, wondered why, forgot about it till now. All is well now, it must have been a glitch in the program that was resolved within? I have just taken some of the details of the massive computer with a "grain of DOS". Another time it said that the truck consumed 14 miles of range in my 2 mile trip to my mailbox down the hill and back. Other times it shows 4 miles used round trip. I gain 2 miles going down, but spend 6 driving back up. Same trip, done at about 25MPH, why? I do not know. I am not even going to do a reset to find out.

The issues I've seen:

1. Various sensors not ready when truck wakes. Sometimes proximity sensors, sometimes other sensors that block driver assist or oncoming car detection from being available. Walking away from the vehicle for a few minutes usually resets this, but I'm not going to pull over and do this if I'm already on the road.

2. When I start a navigation, sometimes the center console doesn't update to the real-time view. It gets stuck on the "overview route," even though the driver display map shows the turn by turn view. I have to cancel navigation and restart it.

3. No way to keep a navigation view up on the driver display when using the full-screen map. If it changes to autonomy mode, it doesn't automatically switch to the map in the left carousel.

4. My keyfob battery died, but the truck still seems to think it has full battery. Even if I place it on the NFC reader, it still thinks the battery is full. I've never seen a "low battery" indicator show up onscreen for the keyfob.

I had been seeing ~.5kW per day, was out of town for 8 days and lost 10% SOC was why I noticed. Had seen this much in the past, but had been much better until this update.
i have mine on a battery tender since it sits for 4-6 days at a time. prior to this update i would also lose about 0.5kWh/day, but now i'm wasting 1-2kWh even while it's on a battery tender. seems to wake up every hour per the energy graph!

Prior to the .46 update I was having almost no problems (except one occasional rattle) with my truck. Even the PAK worked. Since the update I've reset the vehicle 6 times. The reoccurring issues are:
1. Cabin thermostat doesn't control the temp. Heater just keeps pumping heat past the 71 degree setting. Also started making a noise. On a 35 mile trip in 30 degree temp was 79 degrees in the cabin upon arrival (according to app).
2. Phantom wiper wipe. No reason; just driving down the road and wipe.
3. PAK works worse now than before. Have re set up phones 3 times.
4. After an overnight sleep I get in the truck and it is on the "Begin your Electric Adventure" screen.
5. Center screen response has gone from average to bad. Drove 7 miles today before FM radio came on.

I would trade the very good hands free driving system back to have these go back to pre update version.

Anybody else with new issues?
I've never used PAAK, only fob, but now whenever I'm within eyesight of the truck without the Fob PAAK activates and I can be inside the house. But I can't remove my phone key as then the app won't work. I thought there was a setting to disable PAAK, but can't find it.

Phantom wipe is for a reason, although now I forget...it's been posted here before.

My scheduled preheat won't ever stop if I enter before it ends like others mentioned and cooks me while I drive. I moved it to end 10 minutes earlier.

I had the initial lag on every screen the first time I went to it, but after I went through all the screens it was fine.

Just a buggy as all the releases just different bugs. I thought I read the rear motor engagement was fixed on DM and I think it's possible I can't feel and hear it anymore, but might just be confirmation bias. I'll test tomorrow and report back.

Phone as a Key is different than Proximity Lock/Unlock. I'm pretty sure you've *always* used Paak, from the day you picked up your car. You need PaaK for a number of things, like the app, and like the FOB. But you don't need to turn on Proximity Lock/Unlock for your phone or separately for your FOB unless you want it.

Had to do full reboot to charge at Tesla. Gen 1 R1T. ALao had issue with navigation estimates etc which cleared with soft reboot.

I have received "no key detected" inside the cabin several times since 46, and even after 46.30. PaaK has not failed to unlock the doors yet, though. And it works great in my back pocket now.

I never had a single PaaK issue prior to 46.

I did reboot the truck a few days after getting 46.30. Not sure if that did anything or not, as I did get a PaaK failure after that reboot. But it has not happened in the last few days so maybe it just took a while for things to settle. :CWL:

Luckily, I have not seen the other issues listed in the OP. Only "no key detected" when using PaaK.

Connectivity problems and questions for my '23 R1T:
1. After the update, I no longer have Connect+, even though I've paid a year for it. It thinks I have it, but when I try to use it, I am told I need to get it.
2. My Rivian APP doesn't seem to know where it is, it thinks it's at home.
Questions: How does it connect to my iPhone? When I'm close, it obviously uses BlueTooth, but when I'm 200 feet away? A mile away? I'm at home now, but it's 30 miles away and my phone shows its state of charge, so it must be connected.
