Has anyone experienced charging their R1T on their at-home-Rivian charger and heard an EXTREMELY LOUD noise? We stopped the charging when the noise occurred after 3-4 hours of charging in the 2 cases we have experienced so far. In both cases we set our R1T to charge around 8:30 PM with about 100 miles of range remaining. The noise occurred between 11:00-11:30 PM. We pulled out the charging device because the noise was so loud awakening the neighborhood. The fender around the charging port was also warm. After the first episode our R1T was towed to the Rivian service center. The wire harness was repaired because a mouse had eaten through some outer insulation in a small area of the harness. The AC compressor was looked at and serviced for a low oil situation. Also the 6 cooling pumps were looked at. We were charged for the repair and towing. The second time the powerful noise happened again in the same way at the identical time one week later. After having a Rivian mobile visit, no determination for the cause of the second episode has been found. We were asked to record the sound the next time it occurs. We are concerned about using our R1T away from our home when will we need to charge it.
We have had our R1T since October 1, 2022 and have experienced several unexpected and serious events like the two 12 volt batteries dying after the truck was charged the day before rendering it not drivable, a cracked glass roof that needed replacement that we were required to pay $1605 for, 4 tires that turned brown after delivery and needed to be replaced, paint and trim issues, etc. So far we have had an uneven experience owning our R1T. We have driven our R1T less than 3500 miles.
Please comment if anyone has had a similar charging experience. Rivian service has not yet corrected the problem for us.
