I'm a fan and still plan on a day 1 preorder whenever that will be. From the options I've seen so far definitely going two tone white on orange and I'd hit up any special edition options as well.

The wait till 2024 kinda sucks but, maybe it'll be for the best anyways to stagger that with the Rivian.

Same. That rear storage space looks like it could fit at least...what, a dozen bodies? If they keep it analogous when they stretch it for the 3-row, that's going to be killer.

I'm really interested to see what the configurations and color options are, inside and out. It just looks so well thought out and practical on the inside. Like that you can straight up take out the front center console. Will I use that? Maybe. Is it going to challenge me to think about how I use my vehicle space? I'm looking forward to it.

I'll be very interested to see if they retain the swivel seats from the concept in the US version. I think if they do it will only be available with the higher trim levels or rumored California version and not standard. I think the swivel front and captains chairs is a road trip game changer with charging stops, because you can stop and get a decent meal and have a nice little dinner set up while charging instead of hitting a drive through and trying to scrarf down French fries as you drive.

That's a good point, although I doubt they'll be able to fit a third row in (and it hardly makes sense to) if they keep the swivels. And I'm honestly more focused on the third row than I am having a 5-seater that's game-changing practical (because it is). So it'd be nice if they gave us options, but at this point all they've communicated about the NA version is that it would be a 7-seater.

And speaking of communication, I don't think we can call the California version "rumored". They straight up told us it was in the pipeline during the reveal.

How do I find out when VW will start taking preorders? With an inevitable further delay in R1S production, I doubt I will get one in 1H23. This is the only viable alternative until Hyundai/Kia start delivering the Ioniq7/EV9.

Can order late Next year.
North America isn’t getting the short wheelbase version that’s been making the rounds.

As 1/2 of an outdoorsy DINK couple with a dog (could I be more cliche), the 5-seat short wheelbase would be ideal for my better half. A long-wheel base with 7 seats doesn't make sense, but it sounds like I'll have plenty of time to sell her on the idea of the Buzz California :D

if the R1S makes it 2H 23 for me that would probably mean a no on the ID.Buzz unless they fix the time frame window. I was disappointed at the US only for the short wheel base and a 2024 or later date for AWD/300+ mile range models, and the vague 'make it more california' that that the VW AG guy's video kept doing.

Time will tell, I hope it's very successful, just annoyed it's so long away.

"For the US market, Volkswagen will launch a long wheelbase ID Buzz that will have either seven- or eight-seater configurations, as well as the possibility to opt for a larger 111 kWh battery pack. This will be the longest range version, but also the biggest and heaviest Buzz, so even if it will travel further on one charge, it won’t be as efficient, quick or maneuverable as the short wheelbase Buzz sold in Europe.

There will also be a California camper version of the long Buzz, which is expected to be really popular based on the fact that the similar version based on the ICE Caravelle is finding buyers quite easily. This variant is expected to go on sale in 2025, one of the last models to join the range.

Finally, there is a strong chance there will also be a VW ID Buzz GTX, with all-wheel drive, two motors and a combined power output of over 300 horsepower. This model doesn’t make sense to many people right now - a hot version of a van/people carrier - but frankly it isn’t any more ridiculous than the high-powered sporty SUVs that are proving extremely popular today.
