Every time I get in the truck or get out of the truck, I’m getting this message driver plus data update connect to Wi-Fi to download and install this update, I am not sure what it means if I am paying for a connect plus and that is supposed to give me an Internet connection
Can anyone explain?

Do you have a wifi connection when you are at home for the vehicle to connect too? I have never seen this but it uses my home wifi when there.

It’s not that difficult. It has a large amount of data to download for an update which will go significantly faster if you are connected to WiFi.
Paying for connect-plus is just a cellular data connection which is enough if you want connected services so Rivian doesn’t have to eat the bill for data. Would you install an update to your laptop computer (geberally) through a cellular hotspot or wait until you connect to legit WiFi?

Connect+ is through AT&T LTE network. Just like OTAs, while there is enough bandwidth, for whatever reason they (Rivian) prefers that you download through WiFi. I think, like OTAs, it will eventually default to download via Connect+/LTE eventually. When you get around to it, connect vehicle to a WiFi, can even be your phone's personal hotspot, and just download it. No sweat.

Within release note for 2024.14 (two updates ago):
We’ve improved driver assistance data updates, so the vehicle receives the latest status of highway or road construction, updates of certain speed limits, and other data to optimize availability and safety of Highway Assist and other driver assistance features.

For your vehicle to automatically receive updates, connect your vehicle to Wi-Fi. After you vehicle receives an update, it automatically applies the update in the background, so you can drive the vehicle and use driver assistance features. To view the progress of a data update, go to the quick control Settings > Vehicle > Updates on the center display.
