For any of you with Gen 1 getting 2.4 MPK or higher, which tires are you using? Only a couple options that I’m aware of at the moment

I have the General HTS60's. I don't get 2.4 over all but its easy for me to get that on a casual drive during good weather. I've gotten nearly 400mi of range behind a truck on the highway :)

Are we talking overall or at a given speed?

Overall, some tires that might reach that are the General Grabbers HTS60 and Pirelli AS+3….there could be others too..

Would only consider this when an offroad equivalent (275/65/20) is available to replace my 20s.
Why is 275/65R20 your only "off-road" size? There are plenty of 275/60R20 off-road tires, including the Territory ATs. I'm running AT3Ws at the moment, they sure as heck aren't all reasons.

275/60R20 AS+3s, 2.47MPK in 2023. 6k miles are a mix of road trips, cabin trips, and 80/20 freeway/local commute.

I plan to switch to a 116 option when these run out, I'm split between HTS60s and LTX MS2s. Both in 275/60R20 of course.

I want a 34" tire for the extra height as I off road a lot. In addition, I do not want to have to reprogram (read: trip to the SC 3 months down the road) for a smaller diameter tire. Furthermore, all these tire comparisons are so subjective that I want an apples to apples comparison with OEM sized tires to make a better informed decision.

I’m after a balance of efficiency and AT characteristics, as good or better than the Scorpions, i.e. a true alternative, bonus if lower cost as well. Toyo’s fit the bill, but keeping an eye on results for the Grappler G3 (prefer its appearance). Noise is not at all a concern.

sounds like you are looking for extra clearance, half an inch is the difference between 33/34 tires, if that’s so then 34.5/35 would be better. Are you airing down too? OEM size is 33” (20/21/22) and 34” (20), to be clear…if you program to 33” (21/22) then moving to 34” should be negligible impact to speedo/odo…

I'm pretty set on wanting 34.1" tires for the reason you stated and I don't want a taller tire with the risk of rubbing. Yes, I am off roading in Colorado on pretty mean trails so always air down to the recommended 31 psi, which makes a big difference. I'm not considering anything other than 275/65/20 tires at this time for my use case. If the reviews for the Toyo SL version of the Open Country A/T III EV are favorable I will likely replace OEM with that but it is 0.5" narrower tire (vs the LT which would be better off road but heavier/less efficient). Even though the Pirelli has some negatives it's still the only tire on a stock EV SUV to complete the Rubicon trail and my experience with it off road has been good.

Not sure about OP, but for me it is the loss of clearance. I've thought about 34.5" tires but I'm not sure 1/4" gain is worth it. I'll avoid the loss of 1/2" though, even at the cost of some efficiency.

Those are my thoughts as well. I don't want to give up the 1/2" for the 33s. I'm not sure 1/4" is a significant enough gain to go to a 34.5 (but I've thought about it). I'm concerned about potential rubbing on a 35 (plus weight). I'd like a similar tread width. I like the Firestone Destination XT but worry the wider width would result in lower efficiency vs the Toyo, though larger gaps might mean similar tread contact and just more noise (XT may also be a softer compound but we don't get snow in my area). I'd like to go to an LT for durability off road, but I'd like to keep efficiency as close to what I've been getting (2.2) because I'm comfortable with that based on recreation locations and charger availability.
In other words, there is no right answer, but there are reasons I don't want a 33 or the lightest possible tire.

Between those two options it’s fairly simple choice. Do you want a narrow (7.8”) tire built for longevity or do you want a wider (8.6”) tire built for traction but will wear out faster…
I don’t think the efficiency for HTS60 can be beat, but they are all so close that I don’t think it really matters, 2.51 vs 2.47 MPK

The Defender is $240 more, but lasts longer. The question is cost per mile. If HTS60 lasts 40k and Defender lasts anything over 52k, Defender, it's a better $/mi.

My buddy has the Defenders, and I like the looks, so I'll likely go that route.

I'm currently debating between the 2 versions of the Toyo Open Country A/T III EV. It seems that the LT version is essentially the same tire as the non EV version of the same tire (which is very highly rated on tire rack) but not sure. I'm guessing that given the weight of the LT version it should give similar efficiency to the OEM Pirelli with better performance across the board. But I want to wait for the reviews and efficiency results of the SL narrower version. If it's significantly more efficient than the LT version I might consider the off road trade offs. Of course the OEM Pirelli is the safe choice and I have been reasonably satisfied with it (also at 2.2 mpk) and its performance here in Colorado. I'm at 7mm and 17k miles on the Pirellis so won't have to make a decision until fall.
