What location on hood of r1s do cross bars look the best?

I would recommend not putting them on the hood.

To answer the question of where they should go on the roof, I find it's easier to wrangle a load if they are both forward. If it has a lot of overhang, like a rooftop tent, might be more efficient to have them rearward.

I can understand the argument that some like them for the looks. I personally don’t have crossbars yet however I do like to look as well. Don’t some vehicles have them fixed? The efficiency argument is a personal choice.

Funny I found this thread. I had an R1S behind me in traffic this morning (probably going to buy one in the next year) and it had the roof bars on it with nothing attached and I thought, "ugh, I don't like the way it looks at all with those."

So, for me, I'd take them off whenever I wasn't using them.
