The comms staff shouldn’t be involved in most of that. They could be doing, you know, comms. It’s why companies have different departments with different people doing different jobs. So, you know, all of the important things get done. Apparently communicating with their most loyal early adopter customers isn’t a priority for them. Defend that all you want, but it’s pretty obvious that most people don’t agree with you.

First rule of comms - perception is reality. Second rule of comms - see first rule.
Not sure I agree with the statement most people don’t agree with him, they could just not be as vocal.

I would like more communication but do not presume that I know why we are not getting it. Not expecting my R1S until later in the year. I’m willing to let my money ride and try to be patient while I wait.

Not sure what value all of the negativity will have. Certainly has me ready to take a break from the forums. They seem to no longer bring any value to me.

Everyone here has the option of backing out if they no longer feel that the vehicle or company is not what they envisioned.

For those who hang around, I still think you are in line for an incredible vehicle. For the ones who bail, I hope you find what meets your needs and are happy with you choices.

Everyone on these forums seems to be forgetting that Rivian Support was telling people just 2 days ago that they are “still on track for Guides to reach out in May and production to start in June”. They also literally told us that Guides are finishing up training as we speak. You want Guides to reach out before their training is done?

I don’t know, as someone who works for a startup and has been through plenty of launches I feel like a lot of people here are super overreacting with speculation and negativity. Youre making inferences and conclusions based on next to no real information and facts — just running with speculation as truth.

Y’all just need to relax, for real. Take a break from doom-refreshing these forums and go live your life.

We will all get our R1T’s and R1S’s soon enough.

But if we don’t doom post here, Rivian will never get the message. I’ll admit I’ve made some overly dramatic posts in the past with the idea that Rivian has people reading these forums. :p It seemed to work earlier this year before Rivian started to put out more regular updates.

Speaking of which, we need a new thread on the 279 mile R1T range folks found in the configurator code. Better yet, somebody post it to Reddit. Maybe that gets picked up by the EV press, and Rivian has to comment on whether those numbers are accurate.

P.S. I’m going to cancel my reservation if we get another TURD/FURD this week.

I don't see how anyone could disagree that Rivian could & should communicate more with its customer base.

They have an entire team whose job it is to do this, that isn't working on guide training or production matters.

Is it the end of the world? No. Are people entitled to be upset about a major deficiency when Rivian is staffed & capable to address it? Yes.

So much of this reminds me of a young lady I dated (for a short time) many, many moons ago. If we were going out on a Saturday, she needed to hear nearly every day that we were still on for Saturday night, what time, where we were going, what we would be doing. This was in the days when a "mobile Phone" was a phone booth set up so that you could drive up and use it from your car (the did have push buttons and were not rotary phones). There wasn't texting, tweeting chatting or anything, and not everyone even had voicemail (if they did it was utilizing a cassette recorder).

I just don't get the need for the constant reassurance about a future event/timeline. Seriously, how many of you so worried about the first contacts in May are likely to be on that list? I have heard from not a single early R1T LE holder that is worried that the sky is falling.

Would sending an email every day saying "we are still on schedule" suffice? The lady I was dating would have then demanded much more detail - I suspect that is also the case here.

As to most people agreeing/not agreeing, I don't have any basis for deciding one way or the other (and don't really care for that matter). Obviously the constant whining has not changed Rivians timeline or corporate culture - all it is accomplishing is that the whiners get to reassure each other that they truly are being wronged and Rivian owes them something for the emotional distress they are being subjected to. And make this forum a whole lot less pleasant to visit

What exactly is it you need to know right now , that you don't already?

How to program in delayed charging? How many FM radio presets there will be? What font do they use on the display and is it customizable? How many different instrument panel display/layout options are there? Will every cup holder in the vehicle accommodate both a Super-Tanker sized soft drink and a short Starbucks cup?
All this stuff (and much more) is interesting to learn, but matters not one whit in the big picture. If any of those are key to your decision making - ask your Guide xx days/weeks/months from now when your turn to convert to an actual order arrives.

For those that think that whining and moaning resulted in more info from Rivian:
A dog that barks incessantly from the moment his/her owner leaves until they return likely believes that the barking worked and got the owner to return. It didn't cause the return, but annoyed the hell out of the neighbors in the mean time.

Agree 100% with all of this. This Forum has taken on a bit of a Lord of the Flies vibe the past couple of weeks.

Let me update your example for you. Ok, you told her you're going out Saturday, but what if you said "I will tell you more on Wednesday?" Given her propensity to ask for details, do you not think she will start to worry once the clock turns 11pm on Wednesday and you still haven't said anything?

Up the stakes. What if it wasn't just a Saturday date but a "meet the parents" date? Or (lawd have mercy) your wedding?

I don't think anyone is at fault or has gone back on their word here. Rivian said they would be reaching out in May, and it's still May. They have time to come good on their claim, but it would be myopic to assume that is this anything but poor communications so close to the end of the month. And this is coming from an R1S LE reservation holder who doesn't expect their vehicle until December.

If the "300+" mile range claim is actually an EPA 279 mile range then that is a big fail, imo.

More speculation caused by lack of transparency & communication...

That's completely unfounded for you to assume that, and I think you're totally wrong too. You sound like an armchair engineer/manager when you say stuff like that and lose credibility. C'mon man...
