Iowa anyone?

I don't know if it is just me, but I'd suggest those of you who have taken delivery to stay on top of the registration process. My temp tags expire tomorrow, and I haven't been able to get any solid information from my guide about the status of things. I tried using a couple websites that allow you to search for a VIN to get vehicle records, and nothing shows up so it's almost like they haven't even submitted it to the DOT/treasurer.

There are at least 2 threads in the forums here about the poor title & registration process. In some cases, Rivian has offered to provide a rental, in others people are just parking the truck. I don't really want a rental, and with having to shuttle kids to school & activities, I have to have a vehicle. If I get stopped, I guess I'm just going to have to pleading ignorance or forgiveness since it is completely out of my control.

I had to overnight an IA DOT doc back to them a few weeks ago.

@LeDiable I’m on the south side of Ankeny by tractor supply. White w/22’s, broken tonneau cover . Also in the same boat with reg, mine expire Thursday and I’ve been on my guides ass for two months now. They keep blaming the dmv for being slow and the dmv says they don’t have any reg request….unreal.

Did get to chat with the people charging the other blue R1T -- they were from Minnesota and had taken a trip to Nebraska so were just charging up on their way home.

@NooterIA -- I've operated my tonneau less than a dozen times, haven't even tried in the past month or more because I cringe every time and I don't want it to get stuck partway. Also, if you're near Tractor Supply, we'll probably see each other at some point since I'm also in that vicinity.

Hi All, long time lurker to the Rivian Forums. Just stumbled onto this Iowa thread. Great idea! We are in the Ames area have had a Max pack configuration on order since January 2020. Glacier White/Black Mountain with 20"s. Been waiting a while with no real updates on the Max pack, except the vague estimate of first half of 2023. We recently were invited to the R1T Shop and have begun to rethink waiting for the Max Pack. Just yesterday we talked to our guide for the first time and have agreed to drop to the large pack battery, GW/BM, and 21" wheels to improve range. The guide indicated that these options could lead to a much quicker delivery window. That, coupled with the ability to choose from any R1T shop vehicles that may be close to our options, may mean we see our R1T this year! Looking forward to seeing more of you on the Iowa roads!

An update from my first post here. We pulled the trigger on an El Cap with Black Mountain interior from the R1T Shop, and after a bit of an issue getting that particular truck delivered to us, they finally found us another El Cap/BM which was delivered September 1st! We promptly took it on a 1200mi+ road trip to the North Shores area of Minnesota to test it out. This is an amazing vehicle! Really, the only issue we had the whole trip is the Adaptive Cruise Control not working during two stretches. The first was driving into the sunset and the second after accumulating about four layers of bugs on the front camera. I was actually surprised that there is no "dumb" cruise control in the vehicle. Seems like a real problem, particularly with winter weather driving in our future. Anyone hear if they are working on a solution for this? Looking forward to meeting my fellow Iowans out on the roads!

That looks like the charging station in Early, IA. Had to use that one on my Okoboji trip, since there are no public DCFC charging stations in the Spirit Lake/Arnold's Park area. Quite the PITA.

Yes sir, that's the one! It was our first experience with a public fast charger. We were surprised to find that it was free! That model can't last long. It did work great, however.

Yep, worked well enough, although the installation arrangement & cable length makes it nearly impossible for us to use the charger on the left, and if Casey's is busy then the spots get occupied by non-EVs. I'm not sure why some of the Shell Recharge stations are free while others are not. Haven't found any pattern or explanation for that.
