Stay adventurous.....didn't even get to within thirty miles from home on my maiden voyage before I was challenged by a chipped out diesel pickup blowing black smoke. He was a quarter mile ahead and I caught him fairly easily in two wheel drive. I don't know if he had his floored and I don't know if I did either but by then he knew what I was driving. I flashed my headlights at him in thanks for the race and backed down from 108 mph. I was in the most unstable mode, conserve and low chasis. The best setting by far is the "all purpose" giving very solid feel. I need to check what speed the tires are rated for and how fast the R1T might go top speed on a safe track. Chime in if you are ahead of me on this.

Hi All, long time lurker to the Rivian Forums. Just stumbled onto this Iowa thread. Great idea! We are in the Ames area have had a Max pack configuration on order since January 2020. Glacier White/Black Mountain with 20"s. Been waiting a while with no real updates on the Max pack, except the vague estimate of first half of 2023. We recently were invited to the R1T Shop and have begun to rethink waiting for the Max Pack. Just yesterday we talked to our guide for the first time and have agreed to drop to the large pack battery, GW/BM, and 21" wheels to improve range. The guide indicated that these options could lead to a much quicker delivery window. That, coupled with the ability to choose from any R1T shop vehicles that may be close to our options, may mean we see our R1T this year! Looking forward to seeing more of you on the Iowa roads!

Welcome!

Glad to hear you're getting closer. I selected from the R1T shop as well. No regrets at all.

I've been following the main R1 Shop thread to see what is getting added regularly. If haven't selected would love to see what you're seeing for options (just out of curiosity, if you still have access)

Thanks! Truly excited, once again, for the possibility of finally experiencing the R1T. Had lost some of the excitement for a while with all the delays with the Max pack. Here is what I am seeing currently on the R1T shop:

Lots of Forrest Edge Interior colors. Not our thing, but to each their own... ;-)

I'm getting jealous. Nov-dec timeline. Waiting on OC though
Congratulations on getting your truck. I am organizing an EV display for the Ames Iowa EcoFair October 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. I am looking for a Rivian owner who would like to bring their truck and display it, please.

Thank you that is SUPER. I hope you'll make some new friends at the event. The location is Zions Ag Finance Parking Lot, 590 5th Street, Ames, Iowa. Saturday, October 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other Rivian owners are welcome too. We don't have a lot of room so we are limiting to one of each EV model in the display. That said we expect a big crowd so if other Rivian owners can join Andrew to help him answer questions about the Rivian ownership experience that would be great. (If you just want to bring a vehicle but not answer questions, that is all right too.) Rivian employees and sales people are also welcome. If you know or are a person that works at Rivian and want to bring trucks to offer test drives please let me know.

Iowa crew, curious if anyone has put their Iowa license plate on their truck yet? I was told not to when the lady dropped off my truck and to wait until I was told to do so. Anyone already been down this path and got the notification to put your plates on? Seems strange it takes so long, I've still got my plates from my old truck too.

I threw mine on right away. Figured if I get stopped I'll play dumb and say they told me they were transferring them.

Just sharing some info.. I got my first service scheduled with the team out of KC. I asked if I could do the mobile service rather than driving it all the way down there and back. And they said OK! Anyway, the three things their planning on fixing when they get to my place in September is

(1) rear touch screen isn't working with any touches. It's on, just doesn't do anything when someone touches it to change something.
(2) PPF peeling off the bottom of the gear guard tunnels and front quarter panel.
(3) The little door that closes over the air compressor cord/bag in the gear tunnel is no where near flush, it's like the whole plastic lid is warped.

We'll see what happens, but thought it was cool they're deploying the mobile service rig!

I should see if they could make a stop for me too, being in Ankeny. I have a few issues.

  1. left rear window doesn't roll up on auto
  2. severe pull to the right while driving
  3. camp speaker won't connect or stay on
  4. ppf pealing
  5. one bed light not working at all

There’s a quick fix for the window deal, my driver side was doing the same thing. Just call support and ask for the window reset technique.
