The wheel bearing hubs, two out of the four on my R1T were replaced at two different times. In August 2024, I noticed an unusual noise coming from under the vehicle, especially when going over speed bumps and turning vehicle. I scheduled a service appointment to address the issue. The service center resolved it, and I asked several questions about the cause of the noise. However, they didn't mention that it was related to the wheel bearing hub, even though this was noted on the service invoice.
On November 1st, I heard a grinding, friction noise coming from the front driver's side of my R1T while driving on the freeway in the evening. The next morning, as I drove to a shop at low speed, the noise grew much louder, and the car became undrivable. I had to call a tow service to take it to the service center in Eastvale, CA. After diagnosing the issue, they replaced the front left wheel bearing hub. To my surprise, they mentioned that this repair was due to a recall on my R1T. If it's a recall, why was it only flagged for my vehicle?
The front RIGHT wheel bearing hub was replaced in August, and now the front LEFT ONE has been replaced too, meaning my R1T has already had two out of the four hubs replaced. This raises concerns for ALL other Rivian owners. How long will their hubs last? My vehicle has only 18,000 miles on it, and I’ve seen threads where others have experienced the same issues. Rivian, could you be more transparent about the quality of your vehicles?
Below are the service invoices:
