when do guides get assigned?

Good evening everyone

Does everyone have a guide assigned right at pre-order, or is it only when you are getting close to delivery? In one of my other threads, I talk about an email that I received yesterday that leads me to believe I may be close to starting the delivery process, but have not been able to contact customer service yet to confirm, as they were already closed. In the email, it speaks about how I should be contacted soon, and giving me a checklist for electronic delivery, etc.....

I logged onto my account page on Rivian today however, and when I noticed that in the lower left hand side, right above my initials, there is a ? button. When i click on it, there are two tabs. One is my guide contact info, and the other is customer service info.

I had not noticed the guide info before, and am hoping that is further evidence that my delivery may be happening soon. Any thoughts?

Do you mind if I ask, do you have a guide contact on that page yet?
No contact, typically you get a guide a few weeks prior to your delivery....TYPICALLY

This is the best tip. I went into my account and saw I now have a guide assigned. I emailed her and hopefully can set up a time to chat about my R1S soon. For reference, ordered R1S LE in 2/2019.

I got my first phone call months ago, then couple of weeks ago offering a truck that week if I'd switch interior colors. So who knows.

It appears that a significant amount of people received their initial guide contact this past week (based on the comments here and on FB). I have seen posts for people who had delivery windows from March to July report initial contacts. That includes a significant number of contacts for configurations that we have yet to see produced (R1S, FE interior, OC interior).

The optimist in me hopes that indicates Rivian is truly in the “ramp” stage and they are starting guide contacts because the vehicles are only a few weeks away from delivery. Rivian may also be trying to maximize deliveries before the next earnings call on May 11.

The pessimist in me is skeptical, and believes this recent flurry of guide contacts may just mean Rivian is choosing to start guide contacts much earlier in the process. Before people were getting guide contacts only a few days before delivery, but it seems now people are waiting several weeks after the guide contact with no delivery. Rivian may also be trying to reach out to delayed configurations (R1S, OC, FE) in an effort to keep people engaged.

Yeah I am leaning towards the idea that they are just assigning guides to more people to get a better sense of locked configurations and coordinating possible deliveries when something pops up in a certain region. Seems like a few people have lucked out and gotten trucks because they are in the right area and the right truck suddenly becomes available even if their pre-order date was much more recent.

My configuration is locked. My guide he was expecting my preliminary sales agreement to be emailed to me by yesterday. I texted him when it didnt show up, but have not heard back from him yet.
