Rivian could sell my R1S configuration to (*edit*) you an R1S with my configuration for a higher price, so you may get yours before I get mine. Makes business sense.

My best advice is to continue to actively follow Rivian Forum posts for up-to-date production info, trends, etc., and pay close attention to Rivian’s quarterly earnings webcast audio and their written quarterly earnings updates. You’ll find those on Rivian’s Investor Relations website pages.

Beyond that, I share kurtlikevonnegut’s data-based view in his reply #2.

Its Friday. I took the day off from creating the Internet (I'm a digital marketer). Im a little bored. So... here I am asking a question that might receive a little bit of hate mail.

When do you all think the config for us $1000 will open back up? I kind of just want to config mine and then stare at the wall for a few months.... or 12.... HA!
Welcome! It’s probably going to be a while, and many of us have been here on the forums since shortly after committing $1,000 so we know what it’s like. The concept of waiting longer than a few months for a vehicle seemed crazy to me. I’m typically not a patient person, but I’ve been content waiting since April of 2021 for a few reasons.

First, every time I see a Rivian on the road it gives me hope and reinforces the “worth the wait“ mindset I’ve had. There are more out there every day so be on the lookout. They are proof that getting your Rivian is a matter of “when” compared to some other startups where it’s more of an “if” you’ll ever get a vehicle.

Next, this whole situation is a win/win to me: some people get the benefit of a Rivian early on and the rest of us benefit from improvements, better infrastructure, and software updates which will probably make the experience for us better than the people who came before us as true early adopters.

Finally, we got to do the First Mile Drive in an R1T and that cranked the “worth the wait” mindset up to 11! Seriously, if you have the opportunity to visit a facility where there are Rivians on display or get invited to a test drive, do it! There’s just something about seeing these vehicles in person and taking in the quality of materials and design that made my brain think, “It seems impossible that this is the first attempt from a brand new company.” It just exceeded my expectations in virtually every way in person.

So, as impatient as I am, I can wait and not be annoyed…

I’m a 2/2021 pre-order and sent an e-mail to Rivian last week with a request for a rough delivery window for my reserved R1T.

They just replied today saying “we don't currently have a delivery window. However, we will send delivery windows throughout the summer, and you will have an update in a couple of weeks.“

If the reply is Q2 of 2023 I may consider canceling my R1T order and wait my 2nd day reservation Tesla Cybertruck.

Welcome to the forum. We're glad to see you've joined us. You'll be fine. Just take the advice from the seasoned gents around you, and I'm sure you'll come to find the best path toward getting your new Rivian vehicle as soon as you can.

As for me, I'm just hoping to take delivery of my R1T ASAP, so I can quit hanging around as a place holder and so more of you can move up in line.

I went and saw a 22 LA Silver on black R1T with 400 miles on it tonight. First time being hands on with a Rivian. Wow. Great looking and the build quality is amazing. The vehicle is being sold at a small dealership and the owner wants my Model S. Offered me a great price for it. 99% sure I'm going to pull the trigger on this.

Of all things that bug me the most, its the lack of text messaging to speech in the vehicle. This has to be coming soon in an update.

Hey, you may get lucky and get bumped to the front of the line. Prioritization seems random and some people that ordered this year have already gotten their trucks in front of people that ordered back in 2019. If you do get lucky, you'll probably be able to configure as soon as you get an email stating that it's time to confirm your configuration. For people that are getting bumped to the front of the line, there doesn't seem to be much notice given, maybe a week to delivery.
It all does seem a bit random...
