That doesn't really line up with the numbers that were presented on the earnings call. If I remember there was a significant disparity between number of vehicles built compared with numbers delivered.

Their plan was to deliver 1200 cars. They only produced 650 and only delivered 384 of those to customers (many of whom are employees). A lot of the other produced cars are used for first mile events, demos, etc.

There's no dscrepancy. They are only on pace to deliver ⅓ of their original goal. So they have a lot of people working first mile instead of working deliveries because there's no cars to deliver to customers.

That's the disparity that I mentioned. My assumption is that the majority of the vehicles representing the difference between the 650 produced and 384 delivered are pending delivery. There is no way they have 270 vehicles floating around doing training and first mile events. Based on the number of events and first hand accounts, I'd be surprised if there were 25 vehicles set aside for that purpose. They did not, to my knowledge, explain the discrepancy.

You are using your own "assumptions" and "first hand accounts" versus actual data from the company making the cars. That's why you are having a hard time understanding reality. The VIN number I rode in yesterday was in the high 200s and that has been a first mile cars for months. Another forum member rode in 284 yesterday.

I think many of us, or even all of us, will get delivery estimates. But I think they're going to be some pretty vague guesstimates. Like I'm expecting my max pack R1T I reserved and configured earlier this year to probably get an estimate of "4th quarter 2023."

And that's actually just fine if Rivian feels confident in their production ramp and timing to hit such targets. but I don't know if I'd be making such promises. Even if the production ramp goes better than anticipated over the coming months, they still have no control over their supply chain and other logistical issues that are a problem right now.

Yeah, I was thinking about this today. Omicron may wreak havoc (yet again) on supply chains. Good luck predicting delivery windows for the next year.

Yeah - not to weigh in too heavily on the Omicron - but I was reading this morning that omicron will likely have more impact outside the US where the predominant vaccines (astra Zeneca, etc) aren't doing as well against it whereas in the US 3 shots of Pfizer or Moderna seem to be (so far) good protection against omicron.

So I would imagine even if US manufacturing holds steady, omicron may continue to mess up parts availability for anything coming in to the country.
