Why does Rivian app require credit card info?

I just had my Rivian wall charger installed and will be getting my R1S in a few days. I just went to put the Rivian app on my iPhone and it requires a credit card. I do not know what it will be used for. Is that legit, and can anyone let me know what the credit card is used for?

I didn't question this when setting up the app for me, as the owner and primary driver of my R1T. However, when I went to set up on my wife's phone, so she could us PAAK and have her own profile, I didn't understand why it needed CC info for her rather than allowing a simple "second driver" sort of profile. I don't care, just that it made getting her set up for the handful of times she'll drive it was more of a process than necessary.

I don't recall having to do this. But I stored my CC on rivian.com website (for gear shop purchases, etc.). Does anybody know if it syncs?

Edit: found it in the app. Along with this interesting note about "we can't allow edit functionality at this time". That's kind of odd. Guess you need to edit it through the website?:

Need a CC on file for the music subscriptions during the free period also, after a software update. Makes it easier to start auto pay. No more TuneIn radio in my R1T. Very disappointed in the entertainment system … now fee for Bluetooth, yet
