will keeping cooler in frunk kill my 12v?

I have a gen 1 r1T with the 12v outlet in the frunk. I have a cooler that runs off 12v and want to keep it there to use. Likely use scenario will be when I make trips to costco, or when I go out to eat at night so that I can keep things cold.

It would be easiest to just keep the cooler plugged in all the time, and when I am going to use it, just put on the timer for the outlets to keep the cooler from turning off.

Will this kill my 12v system? I just had to replace my 2 12v batteries after a warning came on. My r1t currently has 55k on it and will be turning 4 5/1, so I believe the battery lasted a good amount of time, but don't want to ruin the new ones.

Does it actually turn on automatically if the power has been cut for a while? I'm pretty sure I have to turn mine on by pressing the power button after I plug it in when it's been unplugged for more than an hour.

The frunk is well sealed. The cooler might not work very well in there. The heat has to go somewhere.

I second @Danfoss' concerns: both the thermoelectric cooler and the refrigeration-cycle cooler need to reject heat, and the frunk may be too small in volume and too well-insulated. It should work inside the cabin; the truck bed is probably a better spot for it if you really want that feature, maybe the gear tunnel with the roll-up access door left open to the cabin, and no blockage of the air path.
To your original question, turning on plugs 24/7 and putting loads on them will increase 12V cycles, and more cycles = shorter life, but you already have more life on one battery than many here have posted, some stating they get less than a year. I believe Rivian updated their plug strategy to default to off, so we have to manually set plugs to on (scheduled or 24/7). Reporting was that this update was designed to extend 12V battery life, reduce 12V cycling, and reduce parasitic losses when it's in sleep mode.

I've been running the pictured cooler continuously for two+ years in the frunk. It's plugged into the 12v 24/7. Power turns on automatically when truck is driven/unlocked. On longer trips, it'll run three days continuously with the outlets-stay-on setting.

The 2023 truck has 51,000 miles; original 12v batteries; never an issue.

It's a great setup. I always have an assortment of drinks in the cooler.

You can look at spec sheet of cooler for its power draw, or ask its manufacturer. It will drain your 12V only if vehicle BMS fails to replenish its charge. Will the cooler add “wear” to the 12V? Yes. Anything and everything that draw power from it does. And every rechargeable battery has a lifespan defined by number of duty cycles.
