Rivian R1S
Hello all,

I am new to posting on this forum. We have a 2022 Rivian R1S, one of the first off the assembly line with 15,000 miles. We currently have the 22 inch wheels with the original all season tires. My wife had to turn around and head back home as the the truck was sliding everywhere with just a couple of inches of snow and with the truck in snow mode. Any suggestions on Winter/all season non-studded tires that will fit the 22 inch rims?

Following .... Would love to hear any 22ers' experiences with ice/snow tires. We get only one or two good ice storms a winter usually, but they can be pretty gnarly when it happens. Probably better just to stay home but would be fun to have treads that could get us out of our hilly neighborhood when necessary.

Living in Northern New England, the 22" all season tires have been very subpar in anything but dry conditions, especially snow. We also have a R1T with 20" all terrain and they are way better in wet/snow but much louder on dry payment. I want the best of both....lol

Some tire shops (like Discount Tire) will not mount a 115 load rated tire on a Rivian since Rivian updated their spec to a 116 load rating and the Discount Tire order system now reflects the 116 rating as confirmed by Discount Tire in the "Hello From Discount Tire" thread.

I second the Michelins, they were sold to me and mounted by Discount tire. I had sourced the Nokian tires (recommended by Rivian) and DT would not mount them. I went round and round with the store manager and DT corporate and provided the evidence that 115 is not only acceptable but a Rivian standard. If you use their tire guides these and the Nolan’s will come up as tires for the R1s.

I have Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV on my R1T, and they’re fantastic. We’ve had about 2 feet of snow over the past 7-10 days, then an ice event from freezing rain / freezing fog the past 24 hours. Roads are a combination of packed ice and deep heavy slush right now (rain falling, then freezing, on roads still not clear from the weekend storm). The Hakka’s have performed admirably and are outstanding on ice, even studless. I have Vredestein Wintrac Pros on my Audi, and they don’t even compare. The Vredesteins are great in fresh snow and do very well for a performance tire when dry, even as temps rise ... by The Nokians are in a different league when it comes to ice and wet/frozen snow pack conditions.

I also have the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV on my R1T. Live in Central Oregon and the PNW has been hit with huge snow storms over the past two weeks. Travelled in all different snow conditions, blizzards, to snow on ice on the way the Mt. Bachelor Ki Area from my home in Bend, OR. The tires are flawless, traction amazing, and the truck performs so well. Made for outdoor adventures. Buy them. Expensive but the tires live up to the hype.

I ran the michelins this winter after sticking with all seasons last winter. The lateral grip on turns was much better. The ride was noticeably softer as well. Now I'm running the conti 22" all terrains, which I love but are loud.

I was originally going to purchase the x-ices on Costco since they were cheaper, but I trusted Discount Tire to do the work more. My local shop is great and they price matched.
