Rivian Assistant Unavailable in Quebec?

Hey folks. Installed 2026.15 yesterday. No Rivian Assistant. Called tech support and they were baffled. Suggested it should work even in Quebec. No documentation I’ve seen says otherwise. Are we still geofenced out because it’s only available in English?

Does Quebec force every service to be in both languages?
No expert on these matters but if you set the car UI to French, Rivian Assistant couldn’t be available in English only that’s for sure. If you set the car to English though, I would argue that you should then be able to get it IMO.

What is puzzling to me though is that Google Assistant, which Rivian Assistant is based on, is available in French and even French Canadian. Ditto for Alexa yet Rivian owners here never got access to it. My Google Home and Echo devices have been working fine in both languages here for years.

If indeed we’re geofenced out and it’s not only a temporary glitch, I suspect that Rivian chose not to prioritize the software work required. They got a lot to work on. I don’t blame them given the small numbers of owners in the area (although they just opened their largest service center in the country right here).

Just bummed that we’re left out… We didn’t pay any less for the cars for the missing features.

Do you have Connect+?
Did you enable Rivian Assistant over Alexa?
Does the Rivian compass logo show up in the top left bar of the centre screen?
Have you tried a soft/hard reset if none of the above are the issue?

Yep, got Connect+.

I’m unable to activate Rivian Assistant. It’s nowhere to be found in my UI set US English. Nothing under apps, no Rivian compass logo in the top bar.

So far, I’ve done one soft reset and three hard resets.

You also have to have the latest phone app installed as well.

I would all but guarantee it isn't working for OP because Quebec requires it to be bilingual and, currently, it's English only

My educated guess is that Quebec is geofenced. To answer an earlier question, in Quebec French must be prioritized. You can't really offer any service/product in English that isn't offered, and actually prioritized in French, so if Rivian Assistant isn't available in French, they can't offer in English. Quebec is known for being very aggressive in enforcing these mandates. I deal with compliance for consumer products in Canada and Quebec, so I have some experience in this area. The compliance requirements are stricter in Quebec than it is in the rest of Canada.

Quebec strikes again. Beautiful place, but the additional provincial requirements beyond Canada's own, leave it left out of so many random things.
