2)For a $75K+ vehicle, R1S should come with an OEM rear tire door/swivel rack for spare tire storage
3)For a $75k+ vehicle, R1S should have a full spare tire available to it akin to how it is for the R1T. Fuggetabout that inflatable caca doughnut of a spare

Agree on these two points.
It is specially baffling since the company has themes that scream adventure and exploration.
Probably most R1T's and R1S's will be driven on asphalt most of their life.
But for someone who goes on a trail and then gets a flat that the can won't repair repair then what? who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!!!

On a less related note, why is this $2500? Tesla and Rivian’s paint options are insanely expensive, even compared to luxury brands. At least the colors aren’t restricted between trims.

Porsche would like to have a word. But seriously, premium colors are always expensive. You want something other than 4 standard colors and Porsche is around $600+, and nearly $3k for the special colors. Now, if you want Paint To Sample it's just ludicrous.

Since colors are being brought up. I wouldn't mind seeing a 'Florida Orange', even if just as a special edition to commemorate them finally coming to FLA (being this their inception state) and more colors as they progress as a company. This is not saying that the current color options aren't plentiful, just that I'm a picky son of a motherless goat and I RIKEY MOAR OPCHONS!

But after you rack up 50K in options ( because they offer 55937573030573 options ) a 5K paint job won't sound too bad. My neighbor just paid 370K for a 911 GT3 with some red shade of paint, and got the car stamped as 1 of 1 of that color. And oh, the seats do not recline, they only move back and forth manually... it's a GT3 thing. I took it out for a ride, and of course I fell in love, so I mentioned to my wife that I am thinking of buying his other 911 ( base model ) but she didn't take it very well...

I guess until Rivian decides otherwise, it will mean figuring out aftermarket roof, tailgate, or rear underbody mounts. I don't know how much room is under the cargo floor in the 5 seater R1S, but I agree that it would be nice to at least have the option of a fullsize spare there similar to how the R1T clearly does it.

Because it's the brand's premium colors. Seriously, the vehicle cost $67k to start, why does $2.5k bother someone? Think it's too much? Then take white and have it painted in the color you want. It doesn't matter as paint jobs for a vehicle this price range and type of work will come out to about the same price Rivian is charging for Compass Yellow and Rivian Blue anyways.

Exactly. I don’t like throwing money around but at most $4500 to get the EXACT color combo you want at this point (no lockouts etc) is a pittance. My 911 was a perfect spec but silver (my #2 choice and classic and beautiful) and I’d have gladly paid $2500 more to get what I want. Ignoring Porsche most companies (bmw, Audi etc) are $1000 for a paint up charge. Unless you’re dead set on white, the true delta is $1000 for blue and yellow. $1 a day for a 3 year ownership.

I go back to the question- find me another $70k vehicle that goes 0-60 in 3, ventilated seats, pano roof and compare the paint prices…oh yeah it doesn’t exist.

Someone in Colorado spotted this Compass Yellow R1S out in a parking lot. According to the person who spotted it it's Vin 0003.

Why are colors so expensive? Because customers of vehicles at this price point will pay for it.

Rivian gets an average sales price of ~$75k-$80k while saying the vehicle only costs $70k. It’s no more complicated than this.

So ever since I got the Kia EV6, my wife has been in love with it. She had to get gas in the minivan and is already sick of filling it up at the gas station because of the crappy weather, so now she’s saying she wants to trade in the minivan for an R1S, which I was hoping secretly she would lol. So I am a officially switching from an R1T to the R1S LE club!! Got my order changed already! I’m sure it will delay me a few months, but at this point I’ll be happy if I just get it this year!
