So... did you know that it would be unprofitable for Rivian to fulfill everyone's color choice desire?
Also... did you know that if you want to paint or wrap your vehicle, you can do so?

I LOVE brighter, modern, muted, and/or vibrant colors as much as the next human (most car colors are boooooring), but I wasn't in the room making decisions so it makes no sense to whine about it.

I wonder how much it would cost to color wrap an R2.

What are you looking at? Catalina cove is blue and there are only 2 greens not 3. No red though.
I just want an algae covered pool color.

I think all automakers should offer a "whatever color you want" option, but charge what makes sense. If no-one takes it? Nothing lost.

Is my math right that a fully optioned Launch edition is only $700 more then a fully optioned Preimium? Assuming stock wheels, black interior, and 2k paint.

I just bought a R1T and picked it up at the Factory in Normal. WITH a destination Charge !!! It’s a big piece of property. Available the NEXT day I placed the order. Must have been parked WAY WAY in the back of the property for a $1800 delivery fee. Rubs me wrong.
The destination charge is a fair shared expense covering logistics across the fleet, it is not based on specific delivery location. I paid it on my R1S as well when I did a factory delivery.

My config:

Launch Edition, Catalina Cove, 20" Wheels, Coastal Cloud Interior: $61,990

And all the charging stuff because it's free to CA residents (Portable Charger $400; J1772 Adapter $50; Combo CCS1 DC Adapter $200).

Wow, lots of new to Rivian folks in this thread, which is great to see. Once they killed Compass Yellow and Canyon Red the color selection has been poor. Also, paint has always been expensive.

Human psychology is a funny thing. Rivian could have launched all the vehicles with base prices at $1000 more than they did. People probably wouldn't have objected and still considered entry pricing competitive, except some would doubtless object about the entry point now being $46k instead of $45k.

Then Rivian could have offered paint options as follows ...
  • Esker Silver as a $1,000 rebate/discount/credit
  • Glacier White as a no-cost option
  • Half Moon Grey and Forest Green at +$500
  • Midnight, Catalina Cove, Borealis and Launch Green at +$1,000
No difference to the end price but now everyone would have been happy that the paint options were so affordable ;)

I was excited about the Launch Package (Performance) with all that was included, but all I need is the Premium trim. Take the LE/Performance and select 20" wheels ($1k addition), that comes out to $60,490. Take the Premium, add the towing and Autonomy +, with the stock 20" wheels that totals to $57,440. Does anyone else see the Premium as better for them?

Premium trim here too. Forest green paint and coastal cloud interior, so no LE for me anyways even if I wanted it. Also Gen3 LIDAR coming “late 2026” too, so might as well add that while I’m waiting for forest green and coastal cloud interior too!
