Hi all, I purchased one of the third brake lights that has been a great addition to my rooftop tent truck

the one friestrarion is that it automatically turns off rear sensors every time I start the truck and I have to toggle them back on. Annoying - and I worry I’ll forget one of these times and back into something. Any way to get this to not happen ?

Can you let me know where you got the third brake light setup and how it's hooked up? I'm assuming it is either wireless and has some sensor, or it is wired and you have to may need to take off when you open the tent? I have an Ikamper mini on my R1T bed and plan on a long trip later this summer and worry about the tent blocking the third brake light on the R1T. Thanks!

It's the one Rivian sold in the gear shop for a hot minute then had to pull them because they had a huge number of non-functioning units (wired to always on). It was a wired unit, so you can make/find a similar unit pretty easily.

Sadly, Rivian had talked about making a bluetooth version that tied into the vehicle so it was just place and go without interfering with the accessory plug shenanigans.... just like the myriad of other items they make patents for, show prototypes and never do....

Nope, I have the same issue/annoyance. Maybe enough emails to Rivian to allow a "powered accessory" mode that doesn't change all the settings?

I thought they were just gone forever, or at least until a newer version was released. I will have to check with the Orlando SC and see if they can in fact still order them.

Thought I’d share - I reached out to ORL SC and they were able to offer the part on an existing work order. Cost is $200 + tax.

Does the Rivian one avoid the rear sensors issue?
You have to select the "Accessory" trailer profile. By default your rear parking sensors will be off, which will be indicated on the driver's display when in reverse (but note the rear cross-traffic alerts still function). Then turn off "Rear Accessory Mode", and you will get your reverse parking sensors back.

Every time you start up the car it will display the towing screen. I verified that Rear Accessory Mode stays off if you park the car and go away for a while then come back and drive again, but it may time out after an extended period of time - I don't know. Regardless, because the towing screen is presented every time you get in the car (when there's something plugged into the 7-pin) it's trivial to turn it off again if necessary.

Yeah, parking sensors time out (no idea how long) for me with generic light so have to turn it back on each time. Thanks for confirming!
