Start seat heating with turning on the fans

Hi,

Does anyone know if this is possible to do from the mobile app? Or will turning on the seat heating also turn on the fans?

there are separate controls for hvac and the seats. the controls for one do not change the other.

Interesting. When I tried my friends Tesla the climate fans started when I turned on the driver seat seat.

Well, stating the obvious, Rivian is not Tesla. That behavior would also seem to go against the battery conserving tactic of warming the seat but not the entire cabin. Perhaps there are conditions below certain temperatures where the cabin heat is also triggered. Or perhaps the fans simply turned on when you entered the car. I can't speak to all of the nuances of my Rivian and can't tell you squat about how a Tesla behaves. Perhaps others in climates colder than TX can offer more detailed insight.

Actually, I'm not sure this is correct. There are separate controls, but no way to "toggle off" the fan. My belief -- without testing -- is the the schedule will turn the fan on when activated in order to have the scheduled seat settings

The OP didn't say anything about scheduling which, yes, is going to attempt to bring the cabin up to the set temp as well as enable surface heaters if selected. Using manual settings as I was referring to, however, you can enable hvac and surface heaters independently. This is a good distinction to call out.

Aha. Thank you for the distinction. Clearly I was reading what I was assuming in my head. Happens all the time. The Internet has trained me well!

no, nothing on the app's home screen or the widget, at least not on Android. you have to tap into the Climate tile for that.
