If you read the announcement, it states deliveries will happen on June 9th. For this to happen the people that are getting those cars have already received the invite to select color and options along with sort financing.

They've already accepted orders from employees. Financing and insurance can happen in a few hours. The vehicles could be completely ready to be sold, and get sold on the same day to someone who wasn't sure if they were getting one the day before.

Almost certainly a large portion of employees, but then probably yes some ppl who will be given ordering access from NOW-June 8, 2026.. knowing full well that there are quite limited permuations for the LE, mostly only color - which they appear to have many of already built across colors, and the wheel option - which can always be changed easily at the factory..

We should probably see some social media postings by this weekend that are
“I GOT MY ORDER ACCESS!”… even employees being maybe anonymous.

Employees (some already have) and influencers will get some vehicles on or before June 9th. No one here on this forum will get an R2 on June 9th. Some people on here will get an order invitation on June 9th and then will receive their vehicle 2-6 weeks after that. There will be very few deliveries in the month of June overall. The FAQ from Rivian below says so.

The 2-6 week delivery window—does that start from my invite or my order?

I don't know how many people have seen Rj and Rivian's post on Instagram, but they have a lot of R2 units ready to ship.

Soes anyone have a link to that, or another source besides instagram? I don't have an account.

Some youtube influencers put in reservations as soon as it went live. So they don't even need priority from Rivian. Many of them already own an R1 too and have a local service center. They have content to create and put themselves in line super early on purpose as a business decision. So don't be surprised it there are more than a few youtubers with R2s early on.

Based on the videos of all the R2s, if you got got CC, HMG and White then you might get yours sooner. Only a few LG and no midnight or esker silver that I saw.

Where in the world are those esker silvers?

Frankly, after employees as early access buyers, there are probably about 15-20 ”influencers” who should be prioritized to get vehicles in their hands as either buyers OR early release testers to take the vehicles through It’s paces.

They are today, the road & track, Car & Driver, CAR, Motorweek, Autoweek type of content publications for the industry and are valued - good or bad by OEM’s today.

People hate on Kyle and OOO here, but I personally like their videos and find them informative. I want to see the 70 mph range test and DCFC 10 to 80% test ASAP. Also need to see the "improved thermals" and "oversized compressor" in use when DCFC. Rivian has promised a lot, let's see it in the real world summer!

I wish they would give more definitive timeline on when additional ext and light interior colors are available. I need to take delivery this year so don’t want to wait for something that won’t show up but I really hate black interior living In a state with lots of sun

Seems a lot of "angels dancing on the head of a pin" speculation about the precise meaning of words and phrases that do not deserve credibility. We'll know exactly how it works when we each get our invitations, and when happens when we each decide when to buy. Until then, it's all speculation and pedantic continuity claims about how it was done four years ago. Hardly a reliable touchstone at this point.

That's an interesting question. I wonder if the Performance trim's lack of the alternate custom interior is tied to the early launch package? Once that's over I would suspect the extra colors and interior will be unlocked. I think it makes sense that ramping up production will influence when option changes happen.
