As with the R1’s it sounds like location will play heavily into initial R2 deliveries. (From our discussion today at the Sterling SC)

Don't feel too bad. I ordered in the first 5 minutes, live very close to a service center, and have now bought 2 R1Ts and an R1S. No invite..

But not a big deal because I'm not shopping right now. If I were, I would be waiting for Purple to be available.

Yep, same email for me. Day 1, within an hour of launch and will know my fate by the end of June. Apparently it is not only driven by how early you ordered or prior ownership (2 x R1Ts here), but how close you are to test drive. I'm in Charlotte and we now have a service center here and i thought they'd be doing test drives in CLT, but what's showing up now is Raleigh (3 hours away), Charleston (3 1/2 hrs away) and Atlanta, 5 hours away. I'm certainly hoping that they expand where they placed their first bunch of test drive vehicles or a lot of us will be waiting a long time for test drive.

Interesting... two non-Rivian owners with reservation dates of Dec 2025 and Apr 2026 have already received order invitations, while I'm a Day 1 reservation holder from March 7, 2024 and still haven't been invited to order. Based in Northern California and less than 15 miles away from a service center and demo space.

Makes me wonder how much weight reservation timestamp actually carries in the allocation process.

Reserved my R2 on December 29, 2025. I’m currently leasing an R1, and Rivian extended my lease six months since it was scheduled to end this month while I wait for the R2.

Someone on Reddit with an order said there is a $400 nonrefundable deposit when ordering.

Even I get an invitation to order soon I'm holding off until a demo drive. I've been unable to schedule a drive for this weekend when I'm back in town, although I did see a few spots open up for today and tomorrow earlier. Those are long gone.

I’d take those entries with a grain of salt. The first two people aren’t even forum users, even though they entered forum usernames. One of the users that said "no" to ownership isn't a forum user and the other one has never posted.

I’m not saying those submissions are definitely invalid, just that the form is open to anyone, so there’s always a chance of bad data, duplicates, or trolls messing with it. I'm highly skeptical of #9, a non owner with a reservation that's 1.5 months old, already getting an invite.

Not saying you're wrong about trolls and incorrect data but Rivian did say they would be mix in invites to random reservation holders not necessarily early ones so could be a few lucky people. It's also listed on their website under R2 reservation FAQs

If you get the invite, you get first dibs on a demo drive up to two weeks out. Without the invitation they are opening up the next 48 hour window for everyone else to fill in.
