No one would admit to buying this as their personal daily in the city--everyone who is driving it will say it's their business vehicle, which will also technically be true. Looks dorky and less cool than Slate but has clear functional purpose and probably a greater value proposition if you are not concerned about how you look, which Slate obviously is going for, with its infinite personalizations and modifications.

Kei cars will ironically find their entry in the US market through pickup trucks. Telo will lead the way.

It's an interesting concept but I don't see how they could pass crash testing without adequate crumple zones in the front.

There appears to be very little space between the occupants and the front of the vehicle. I am not sure why that design decision is even necessary.

You could easily make the front end another 2 feet longer and add some frunk space to make the design more functional and more safety conscious.

They have gone to great lengths to engineer a front crumple zone that they claim will pass regulations.

What range anxiety? The Telo claims it will get over 300 miles on a charge.

It has 800v batteries for fast charging.

There are vehicles in europe like this. I was involved in a crash with one. It slammed in the back of my vehicle. I cant begin to tell you the horrifying scene of the driver in that vehicle. A scene I will never forget.

Not surprising, I'm always somewhat concerned when driving our i3, which if compared to the Telo has a huge frontal length. People need to keep in mind that in a crash parts come flying off the opposing vehicle, being just 2ft away from that maelstrom of high velocity flying metal is not a good thing!

I had same thoughts about front crumple zones until I watched one of their videos. They designed the front with 14” of it, which is within regulations and about average for most cars. The wheels are just pushed out to the corners to maximize space for HV pack. It should actually be pretty safe.

Pretty much everyone looks at our Smart car and first thing they ask/claim is whether it's a death trap. No. It's rated very safe. And on top of that, it's just fun to drive. And being able to make a full u-turn in the space of two parking slots is hilarious.

I'd be more concerned with the Telo submarining under the opposing vehicle's rear bumper (or even front bumper) until it impacts something substantial at it's own level. In that case your face will be impacting the tailgate of the opposing vehicle point blank.
