Picked up our R2 this morning (June 29). So far so good. VIN 1588.

About those hatch buttons….. we really struggled with the back lift gate at the service center. It was getting a bit awkward with the Rivian guy. It worked for him no problem but not for us. We said, well we will figure it out later. And I think we did, the trick is to cover the whole sensor with the pad of your finger briefly then remove. We were holding our finger in place and that was not working. In, brief pause, out. Same for the frunk. The back window does require some pressure and keeping your finger in place.

Apparently we were delivery number 10 or so out of the Minneapolis service center.

read in the R2/owners manual that the control buttons for frunk, rear window and liftgate are not touch - capacitive switches like the R1’s. During test drive I could not get them to operate and sales tech had difficulty also . Have learned you must put some pressure on them for switches to operate. Not sure I like the new design.

I guess the buttons to open the frunk and lift gate are intentional? I assume Rivian did not want to make it too easy or else you would have accidentally openings? Maybe they should’ve stayed with a push button like they have on the R1?

Congrats! Hope to see you on the road around here soon. Haven’t spied a Twin Cities R2 in the wild yet.what was your deciding factor on the 21’s?

My understanding from the review videos was that they are buttons to be pressed not sensors to be touched, which has been most of the confusion?
They are load cells, work like the haptic wheels do, but there's no feedback to them. It might've been nice for them to be haptic and have actual feedback that they were activated though.

Is it normal for the door handles to still be extended ? I didn't take notice on my test drive, but figured they would retract once you were inside.

It’s in Park during this photo. Handles should be extended. Wife was driving. I stepped out to take the photo.
