Like many if you I am very disappointed that Rivian didn’t grandfather in pre-sale pricing for all reservation holders.

My lightly optioned $72,500 Explore just increased to $88,450. Sorry Rivian, but I am out.

I hedged my BEV pickup bets for this exact reason. I will accept my $52k XLT Lightning reservation towards the end of the year and then sell it when my Dual Motor Cybertruck arrives.

what are they going to do with 1000 trucks sitting on the lot with power tonneau covers/etc that nobody is going to pay for anymore? I guess maybe that's the number of people that are 'close enough' to be locked in?
I know people are upset but Rivian is going to have no problem selling every truck they can make for a while yet.

My question is - will they honor current pricing and this is just for changes? Or is this a straight up price increase. Because my current config still shows $75K. But if I go to change it, that's where I see $90K now. Can I leave it alone and still get the current price?
?? We wish. Hit the upgrade button and that’s what you’ll pay. When you made the preorder it states specifically that the price is subject to change.

If any of you want to massively increase your carbon footprint and lay it RJ's feet, you can get 11% off the MSRP of a Ram TRX at Koons in Vienna, VA. Honestly, I've been thinking about it for a while as my last hurrah in an ICE vehicle. This was it for me and I'm not even going to consider a BEV for the next 5 years.

If you're interested, details on the TRX discount are here:
https://www.ram-trx.com/threads/pri...rp-or-11-below-msrp-no-deposit-required.8040/.
Sweet, I just sent them my config .pdf. Crazy you can get a TRX for $30K less than my Rivian config.

So wait, Elon increasing the pricing of Tesla's vehicles is in by no way anything similar what RJ just did with Rivian? Not even remotely close? C'mon now ...
Uh, Tesla never came close to a 22% single price increase. Not any way comparable.

If you want to keep Quad Motor (not downgrade to dual motor), that's a $6k price hike.

If you want to keep Large Pack (not downgrade to the new Standard Pack), that's a $6k price hike.

Paint prices also increased - $1k extra for Red Canyon, now at $2,500

Camp Kitchen - now $6,750 instead of $5k

Tent - now $3,100 instead of ???

Spare 21" tire - now $750 instead of $600

Tonneau cover - now $1,800 or $3,000 instead of bundled

Wall charger - now $750 instead of $500 (with vehicle purchase)

$80k was pushing it - don't think I can stomach a $90k bill particularly with how little I need my current pickup.

Edit: Looking at your current configuration won't reflect the new pricing yet - the email said the following:
We’re in the process of updating your Rivian Account page to reflect these adjustments and we will send you an email notification when the update is complete. Until then, all product and pricing updates can be viewed in our configurator.
I’m willing to bet these prices go up again too by the time non LE deposit holders take delivery. My anticipated delivery is scheduled for first half of 2023. Plenty of time for more force majeure and inflation to kill margins.

Who wants to take the bet?

We're out. We may wait for the option to drive one, but with our order up nearly 20K, it isn't a question of if we want to afford it, we simply can't.
We'll see where the market on electric trucks is in 5 years.

What I don't understand is why they went so big. I could see swapping the manual tonneau cover for the auto and dropping it from the lower trim all together. I can even accept being limited to black despite vastly preferring the ocean coast. Heck, we'd already selected white because it wasn't extra and were willing to jump to silver.
I could see increases in some of the items, but 12K simply to maintain the same motors/battery pack?

Looks like staying under the $80k cap is now out of the question. Oh well, I wasn't buying one anyway. And Biden's BBB plan seems to be dead anyway.

Not in one go, but prices of the Model 3 went up 23% in 2021 and the Model Y went up 20%.

Well, I've been sitting on two other EV truck deposits... first-day Ford and first-day Chevy. May the best legacy domestic OEM win first. I'll take either one if I can get >300 miles for <$75k.

This will put a damper on future sales. Make no doubt about it. Maybe down the road with inflation catches up with everything that we'll see a change of heart, but those immediately affect are reacting (if this thread is of any indication).

I really hoped that Rivian was the new Tesla. Seems more like another Lordstown or Nikola. Loved the company vision and the camaraderie on this forum, I really thought we had something special going. But I guess Elon was right - manufacturing is hard.

Yea.. a cool 13k increase for me. I'm out as well.. such a load... time to sell my stock as well because this isn't going to bode well for the earnings call.

I get people are upset with the price hikes, but how, pray tell, is Rivian anything like Lordstown or Nikola? Rivian has 1) HEFTY backers supporting them (one of them being their own direct competitor at that). 2) Rivian has put out vehicles to the en masse market. Something neither Lordstown nor Nikola ever accomplished.
