lol at all the excuses. The amount of Torque that the Rivian can actually put down at low speed is actually pretty lame compared to an ICE vehicle with a torque converter and a low-range transfer case. One of the main reasons why the Rivian is mediocre at best at slow speed off-road. With a 7K...
It is. Whenever you bring up Rivian's deficiencies, especially off-road on this board, you are summarily bombarded with "you don't know how to drive" and the Rivian is "faster than any other SUV", and "Every other vehicle is trash" posts. It's quite entertaining.
People forget that electricity rates will only continue to rise, and states have caught onto EV's and now charge extra EV registration fee's and/or taxes. IMO EV's won't be any cheaper to operate than petrol vehicles in the next 5 years unless you have a ton of solar at home and don't always...
Oh that's a big difference. I had no "home delivery" option, just pickup at SC or "carrier delivery". No wonder why they wanted the check first.
EDIT: found this on Rivian web-site:
So looks like a Rivian rep does come out.
Awesome, thanks guys.
Just one update; looks like Rivian is no longer allowing checks handed over to delivery rep and must do the standard check mail in before hand.
My girlfriend is wanting me to re-consider the R1S for her and look at the X now with the price difference. This X price, especially with the tax rebate, makes the R1S harder to justify. Even with the R1S being pre-price hike for $80K. Also considering she kinda freaked out when I told her...
So Rivian gave me the option for carrier home delivery. My guide has been on holiday and I receieved no response to my questions.
Rivian wants me to mail them the check before they will even schedule the carrier. Does that sound reasonable? Essentially buying a vehicle sight-unseen?
What...
Lol think you forgot a zero. Earth cruiser is laughably priced. They sell a small Fuso delivery truck chassis with a small fiberglass camper on back for half a mil $.
Interesting you say the Rivians are "luxurious". Having driven both the R1T and R1S, I felt the interiors were mediocre. Then again I've owned actual luxury cars. The Rivian steering wheel especially feels like it came out of an economy car.
IMO this color is tricky to capture on camera and some camera over-saturate the red making it look better. I saw the red canyon in person and wasn't that impressed. Just preference of course.
I had almost the same experience as you. I hopped out of the R1S and into my new F150 raptor and the Raptor felt and rode way more comfortable/refined. Granted the Raptor is known to have one of the best vehicle rides for obvious reasons. And the Raptor seats absolutely destroy the Rivians.
