Driving from Houston to KC today and had a lot of problems getting our R1S to initialize the session with various super charger stations. Spoke to Rivian at one in Normal and they indicated that there were a lot of reports lately having this issue. Ultimately we had to initialize the session from the Tesla app at one station. The other two stops I just had to move to another available plug and it worked. Using the Rivian provided adapter and have never had these issues before. Anyone else been having this struggle?

I saw it twice on my last trip out of 49 SC sessions. Both times moving to a different station resolved it. One was a V3 and one was a V4, worth noting I was using the Tesla app for all sessions to get the membership price.

I also had the same issue at one EA station. All three were near the end of my trip, I did not try restarting the R1S to see if it went away as it was random.

I tried three SC station plugs yesterday at a station we usually visit and none of them would connect. We ended up driving to an EVGo station another 75 miles down the road (on our way). Later called Rivian and they said they have had countless calls about SC stations not connecting to Rivians over the last three days. He said Tesla is aware of the issue. He said the work around is to activate the session from the Tesla App. That means setting up an account with Tesla.

Glad to know it wasn’t just my vehicle. Thanks for confirming. For what it is worth, found one today and connected without issue.

You should generally be initiating the charging sessions via the Tesla app anyway. The $12.99/mo membership pays for itself if you supercharge 2x in a month. You can also stop/start the membership as you like.....but you will generally end up saving $$
