Is the gear tunnel accessable from the inside of the truck?
As you can see, the opening on the left side of the pic.
That gear tunnel looks like it will take up a serious portion of bed space.
Is this just an optical illusion?

No, the gear tunnel is not accessible from inside the truck. The gear tunnel reduces the bed length by a few inches. Hopefully, below is a link which shows the bed of the R1T.

Here are 2 photos I took at the January event, you can pretty clearly see how much bed space it takes up, and keep in mind the bed has a rolling hard cover that folds up against the cab as well.Is the gear tunnel accessable from the inside of the truck?

@ssgma, that photo of the bed, from that angle, is the best one I have seen yet to make that assessment. You're right - it looks to only take up a few inches.
