March 2019 R1S preorder here. 81 to 95k prices increase... Great email to read when I got home from work. I've been so excited about this damn truck and have lurked here since day one. Rivian has been nothing but a disappointment since my preorder. This was the last straw me thinks. So much goodwill destroyed with all preorder folk.

Unless they know about some new EV incentive that will be mentioned in tonight's SOTU that makes still affordable...

What? You've never experienced or heard of Tesla hate, where people got caught, on camera mind you, keying Telsas as they walked by it all because it's an EV? Now imagine the same for the first EV truck out there (and more so due to people propelling this "EV hate").

I'm mad as hell and getting angrier as I start browsing for suitable alternatives, something I haven't really done to date. Next up for me would be the Bronco Raptor, which I spec'd out at ~$80k. I've never had the pleasure of working through a dealer, but from a quick search on other forums it seems I would have to hit the lottery to find a dealer who would a) sell to me and b) in any reasonable timeframe and c) for less than $20k over MSRP. Even if I could get it for $80k, it would still be a toss up for me between that and my R1S which now comes in close to $100k. UGHHHHHHHHHH

As our production continues to ramp up, we want to share new information that affects your Rivian preorder. 

Vehicle base pricing and the cost of certain options, upgrades and accessories have increased. All packages of the R1S will now only be offered in a 7-seat configuration.

We’re in the process of updating your Rivian Account page to reflect these adjustments and we will send you an email notification when the update is complete. Until then, all product and pricing updates can be viewed in our configurator.

These price increases — the result of inflationary pressure on the cost of supplier components and raw materials across the world — will allow us to maintain product excellence as we continue investing in electrification for our shared future. We remain committed to offering compelling products and helping drive competition, inspiring as many drivers as possible to switch to electric vehicles.

To that end, today we’re also announcing the introduction of Rivian Dual-Motor AWD for both R1T and R1S. Dual-Motor AWD features one motor for each axle for exceptional power and control. The system is designed to excel both off-road and on-road, going from 0-60 mph in as few as 4.0 seconds while still delivering all-wheel traction. Deliveries are planned to begin in 2024. We are also introducing our 260+ mile range Standard battery pack, with deliveries planned to begin in 2024.* Dual-Motor AWD and Standard battery pack are available now in our configurator, where you can find more information on each.

My $71525 R1S is now $89750...why is the Sand interior an additional $2K? That has nothing to do with inflation. Why is White an upcharge? That has nothing to do with inflation. Your excuses are pitiful. My respect dropped immensely today. I believed in you and your vision. However, I cannot afford your vision. If it has increased this much now, what will the final increase be, since it will be 2 years before you build my SUV.

According to @Diddy123 it looks like 2019 orders might have escaped the price hike.

We reserved the R1S the on the very first day they made reservations available... our price is still hiked $16K. I'm thinking this only applies to the R1Ts being delivered imminently.

im still catching up on this thread and am collecting my thoughts on this. Well aware people will complain “but you got it cheaper” all I’m saying is don’t knee jerk yourself in the nuts

Kind hard not to...going from a $71k SUV to the same at a cost of now $89k, and who knows how many more increases will be set before 1/4 of us get our cars? My issue is if Rivian didn't know that their cars were needing to sell for 25% more than they were, they're in the wrong business. Sad, only automaker that had a design that inspired me..

Wow. $20,000 bump increase and a severe delay in delivery. This sucks. I really need a new vehicle, but I don't think I can do this anymore.

frankly I’m of the opinion the only way they Take any of this to heart is if there’s a massive cancellation movement. Complaints clearly go nowhere.

I suspect that even if 100% of the pre-orders cancel Rivian will still be able to sell trucks as fast as they can make them for the foreseeable future. And probably double their profit margin compared to the original pricing.

They are raising the price because they think that they can without suffering any lost sales. Many customers will be angry with this move, but the shareholders will be happy. And the 2nd group has slightly more influence.

I just got an email stating my price has been updated. +15,300 more and delivery estimate is scheduled for end of 2023, so I’m sure this will get another price hike. I have cancelled my preorder. Purchasing another Tesla as at least they honor the price when you place the order even if prices increase. With this poor business practice, I probably will never ever look at Rivian again.
