Erie, PA to NJ shore and a scenic diversion

My wife and I recently took Edison, our 2025 R1S Trimotor, on a coast to coast round trip with a short stop at the Grand Canyon.

We left our home on the USA's north coast to visit family on the east coast. On the way back we stopped at the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon near Wellsboro, PA.

Total round trip was just over 1,000 miles. We ran in Conserve mode most of the trip and averaged 2.38m/kWh, running at 80mph when the traffic would let us.

I used UHF for maybe 75% of the trip. We had a couple of phantom braking events, almost always when a truck in the next lane was crowding us. There were times on non-interstate roads where the UHF or the cruise control over slowed the vehicle for an upcoming turn.

We used all Tesla chargers except for one EA. No charging issues.

Nice trip! I've backpacked the West Rim Trail (30 miles - basically following the west rim of the PA Grand Canyon) a number of times and your post reminds me that I need to get back there.

Check out the New River Gorge in West Virginia. It’s beautiful too. There’s a section called The Endless Wall Trail with some amazing views. They even added these cast iron staircases where you can climb down into the Gorge. I really want to go back there.

The pics are beautiful. Glad to read the trip went well, as I'm going to be taking a 2200 mile trips up through upstate NY, into Canada, over to Maine, before heading down the east coast then working my way back to Ohio, and can't wait to take my Tri-motor Sandor on the journey

We saw some serious looking hikers, looks like that would be awesome. We walked around for an hour or so and got back on the road.

We have stopped at the New River Gorge bridge a bunch of times. Whenever we travel south that is on our route. One of these days we need to get down to the river.
