I find it funny that the price increases all happened in like a day but the roll back will take several weeks. I'm honestly still on the fence about getting the TRX instead.

Unpopular opinion. I actually think this makes sense. I’ve always said people should just build the truck they want and leave it alone;

allowing people to make changes at this point allows people to take advantage of Rivians concessions now that we know where the biggest cost drivers are.
I could see allowing people to change their exterior color
I like your opinion ?‍♂

So after a few pages of this, it just sounds like the only thing we all agree on is that the email is confusing. Maybe we should just wait and see what happens next.

Did you check other folders? In my Gmail account, the email went to Promotions folder. I would be surprised if the email is not sent to all people. I am at the bottom of the line, registered last fall and still getting all the emails.
Thanks for the tip. Gmail has an “All mail” option and it did not show in there. I did contact CS and they said you are all set. I guess I will find out in a few weeks. Mine is a year down the road so rush here. Just curious how things work.

Sure makes sense
If you're entitled to make changes to your pre-order, because Rivian told you you could, then Rivian is entitled to raise the price of your build, because they specifically told you that the pricing was "estimated" and not the final price.

...Lets be consistent in our outrage and stop looking a gift horse in the mouth. Frankly I think the complaining right now is a bit silly, because you don't know what they're going to do on this topic.

I’m pretty sure that the price increase took weeks or more to complete, we just didn’t see anything until they turned it on. They now need to figure out all the edge case we are talking about, figure out what to do about them, implement them in code, test it, draft communications and the turn on tbe new code. Not a trivial amount of work.

I’m starting to realize why Rivian doesn’t send many emails. There just seems no way to win. I would have expected that people would have been happy to get this update. But it’s just the opposite.

I mean, is it a crazy idea to just let them fix the pricing page before we all lose our collective minds about locking in configurations? Which, BTW, wasn’t even in the email we received, and is just being assumed because of some slightly vague phrasing for one bullet.

PS. I’m usually one of the first to take Rivian over the coals for their horrific communication, but the reaction to this one seems a bit extreme.

It happens everywhere. I’m part of a community that was purchased by new developers who are excited and anxious to invest big money in new amenities but you wouldn’t know it to hear some of my neighbors gripe about ‘being kept in the dark’ all the time. So now ownership sends out emails 3x a week that say pretty much what they said three weeks ago…

I wonder if they can list last 3 or 5 configurations and ask us to choose one when finalizing since we were actually told to play around with the configuration.
I don't have my final config set as per their date and wouldn't mind saving money by not getting those additional accessories if they go by new prices.
Sure there will be 3rd party accessories available down the lane or can even get it from their gear shop at a later date if absolutely needed.

Dam*ed if you do and dam*ed if you don’t.

I did change my color to white the morning of 3/1 before the price change, but other than that I think I’m pretty well locked. I had LA Silver on 2/28, so that is pretty much the only update I think I will need to make after they revert. This is all without seeing ANYTHING in person or driving one.

I do agree it would be nice if they offer a one time change or something at old pricing, otherwise changes will be at the new pricing. But they may allow you to make unlimited changes at old pricing. We just don’t know yet.

I have not received the email yet. I am mildly concerned... all I have is my chat transcript where the CS rep said they'd handle it and that I'd receive an email about it.

I haven't received an email from Rivian since the bombshell and then RJ's mea culpa.

I remain nervous.

Ive been very consistent in my outrage…. Communication is inconsistent and often incoherent. Don’t tell us one thing and then explain you are doing something different. Is that asking so much?
