Here are the things that I expected Rivian to have communicated by now. What else am I missing?

1. Release the R1S manual. (I thought they were already delivering the R1S, so where is the manual?)
2. Provide a schedule of test drive cities and dates for this year.
3. Provide a list of standard features on the car and features that are part of the monthly membership.
4. Provide the monthly fee for membership.
5. Update the website to include the location of service centers and hubs as well as the location of future service centers and hubs. (Lucid has already done this. How hard can this be?)
6. Update the website to include the location of RAN chargers.

How about ANY official details (beyond basic measurements) about the R1S. The most detail we have is from from RJ’s selfie video where he lays down to take a nap in the back of one…

Nobody has a vehicle yet so that negates the need for almost all this stuff.

I don’t understand the thirstyness for information you can’t do dick with. It’ll come probably before it’s relevant to you anyways. Chill.

Uh, what? People have vehicles. Hell, everyone's fawning over the R1T delivery in another thread as I type. Others are weeks away from R1S deliveries (according to Rivian). These are perfectly reasonable asks.

Except that there are opportunity costs associated with waiting. If you can find out now something isn’t going to work for you then you can move on.

I was thinking the same thing and I wanted more information on the R1S interior dimensions so I asked CS this evening (also to give them some appreciation after last week). They told me the following dimensions :

Front row legroom : 41.4"
Second row legroom : 36.7"
Third row legroom : 32.7"

Cargo depth with third row in place : 21.7"
Cargo depth with third row folded : 51.8"
Cargo width : 51.1"

This is helpful to me, I was hoping for a little more combined legroom but the front takes up a lot of space, some of which could have been used for the inside. Anyway this is comparable to three row vehicles like the Mazda CX9 and Toyota Highlander.

I agree that #3 and 4 are not needed yet but #5 with the locations would be helpful - especially for the majority of preorder holders who are not on the forums.

If someone is trying to decide between a R1T and a R1S, a video of a R1S would go a long way. Does anyone know where the R1S air compressor is? Does anyone know where/how easy the R1S spare tire is to access? How does the R1S use Gear Guard? Do Gear Guard cables on the roof connect anywhere on the R1S? How easy is it to access the R1S 3rd row? Do the 2nd row seat easily fold? Is there any storage under the R1S seats? Any of them? How does someone NOT want to know what a subscription includes, or doesn't include, or cost, at this point?

Rivian has decided to raise prices by 20% for these vehicles. Which is fine. But people who ordered prior to March 1, can still supposedly change from a R1T to a R1S, and vice versa, but we still don't even have any video on the production R1S, other than a clip where RJ lays down in the back of one in a dark parking garage.

This is huge if it is minimum width at floor level. All previous communication indicated that 5 seater was wider and even that was not wide enough for plywood. I suspect 51” is maximum width at some depth or hight and you can’t just drop in a 48” sheet on the floor. But if you can, that will take care of my uncertainties about R1T.

I have a feeling like many things in the past, most likely way to know for sure is that one of us will see one and will jump in with a measuring tape and post it here.

That is especially important because once you have taken delivery, legally you own whatever feature that is not already described as a part of the paid service. Moving something you already have into the bucket afterward is a legal problem for Rivian so it is in their benefit to be clear from get go.

I currently have a Highlander and was hoping that legroom is similar in the R1S. Thanks for the info.

Has anyone confirmed if the second row slides fore/aft to max legroom for the second row or give some extra to the third? I feel like legroom measurements (like cargo cu ft) are a bit judgement-based by the manufacturer. For example, the Mercedes GLS says nearly 42" of second row legroom vs 37.5" for the X7. Based on videos I've sean, there isn't 4-5" of difference between them.

Silly statement. A very simple example is knowing if certain specs meet your minimum requirements, so that you can dismiss the Rivian and purchase/order another vehicle, insteeading of waiting another 3 months to find out something is a deal breaker.
