I called CS this morning to ask if they could send me the R1S manual, but was told it is not ready for release. I found out a few pieces of additional information. 1. Second row seats do slide back and forth 2. No automatic buttons to fold down/fold up second and third row seats. 3. Second row seats don’t have storage underneath like the R1T.

I also asked if employees who have ordered the R1S will be getting theirs before non-employees and was told that he didn’t know.

Yes. The second row and third row have manual levers to fold/raise the seats.

5 and 6 would be nice. I have a max pack reservation, mainly due to 1 or 2 trips I take. Based on the forum map, and vague location on the picture on Rivian's site, I may be able to save myself the money (and maybe a little wait) and go with the large pack. I most likely would stay with max pack for towing needs, but it would still be nice to know.

Has anyone confirmed if the second row slides fore/aft to max legroom for the second row or give some extra to the third? I feel like legroom measurements (like cargo cu ft) are a bit judgement-based by the manufacturer. For example, the Mercedes GLS says nearly 42" of second row legroom vs 37.5" for the X7. Based on videos I've sean, there isn't 4-5" of difference between them.
Back in May 2021 I asked about this and car seat latch system. I created a thread in R1S SUV section that has some good info. CS confirmed that 2nd row slides without having to collapse seat. Not sure if that has been confirmed again since. Lots has changed.

There is no compressor, at least not for filling tires. The spare is not full size and resides in the rear storage compartment behind the 3rd row. There is no Gear Guard on the R1S.
There is a compressor, same as R1T. Presumably controls/connector are similarly located.

Incorrect, at least in part. The R1S has the same air compressor as the R1T. The optional "compact" spare tire deflates for storage but inflates to full size when needed, a task for which the onboard compressor will be well suited.

Gear Guard is also present, just not the cable. Gear Guard is the overall security system.

I did not realize this. I'll probably keep the 3d row down 90% of the time anyways but the fact this is manual is a real miss. My wife's Palisade has everything push-button, I don't see how a 75k, yet alone, 90k vehicle is manual.

I stand corrected. And further proof of the OP's comments that they need to release more info on the R1S where it differs from the R1T.

My GX has power third row seats but our Tesla Model X does not. It is very annoying to raise the third row seat in the Model X because the button is basically invisible (its within the shoulder area of the seat) and most people can't reach from the rear hatch without rubbing their pants against the possibly dirty bumper.

Or one can do a search on their website till the R1S manual is released to look up the info that was (apparently?) missed.

It depends on your capabilities and priorities. If you have the capability to move the seats on your own and you value time over convenience then fully manual or power release/manual raise would probably be the best options. If you don’t have capabilities to move seats on your own or you value convenience over time then full power fold + raise is a way better solution.

However, to me the desirability of full power depends on the implementation. Our friends have a BMW X7 with full power folding seats. If all conditions are perfect the process is very, VERY slow. If any condition isn’t met then the seats don’t move at all. I cannot imagine this system working well for a parent trying to drop kids off somewhere. I’ll take our LR3’s manual seats which allow access to/from the third row in a fraction of the time of the X7 especially since the X7 provides a smaller opening to the 3rd row after the painfully-slow reconfiguration is done.

Since I haven’t seen instructions for or video of how the R1S seats work yet for folding, raising, and providing access to the third row, I can’t make any kind of judgement call. This is why people want more information, as originally requested in this thread by @Longhorngirl.
