curious: did they happen to explain why that specific interior was delayed? I get the supply chain is a mess but it seems oddly specific to an interior choice... and now I'm wondering about other, specific interiors that could be delayed (mine is Forest Edge, which I hear is bangin).
Rivian has repeatedly stated that there are no delays and we have tight delivery windows for OC coming up, and a guide in the factory reporting OC trucks rolling off the line. There is only this one instance of a single guide stating delays - all other guides have maintained that there are no delays from provided deliver time periods.

In short, it’s just production batching.

Production batching to improve efficiency on the line? It's a possibility.
Production batching due to supply chain issues with OC? It's a possibility.

Nobody except Rivian production mangement knows. We are all making educated guesses, and we all know from past performance that the guides know very little about the real causes of any of the delays, shortages or production decisions. These are the same guides that told people deliveries were starting in July/August of last year. Now we believe that they are 100% correct?

this is my main gripe exactly. I give props and leeway for a startup electric-car company trying to ramp production during supply-chain hell but the lack of communication is deeply frustrating. here's what I wonder: if other interior colors might have the same problem down the line. I have forest edge and everything I've heard/read is that the color is sublime. have you thought about switching to that?
I was really hoping to love FE, as I think black is too monotone, and while I love OC, I was worried about it getting dirty. FE is greyer than it looks in pictures, but was still too green for my liking. I would actually chose it third after black, even if cost wasn't a factor. Point is, I hope you get a chance to see it in person.

Well, since deliveries started, the guides have been pretty accurate (usually stating periods too long) when talking about near-term deliveries and we have guides promising OC deliveries in the next few weeks, so I guess we will see. If you know me or look at my history, you can see I was the most skeptical in the fall, however my opinion is that the circumstances are different now.

If you think about it, a plant running at full production likely does batches of a couple thousand vehicles that are all the same but we never notice because that production batch would take maybe a week and by the time they get delivered it would appear that they are producing many variations at once as the periods would merge. However, when you aren't fully ramped up, that 2,000 might take 3 months and then everyone notices.

I also note that the order in which this production is happening is the same as the delivery windows provided (based on the forum analysis). Since last fall, we determined that black mountain was first, ocean coast second, forest edge third.

I just spoke by phone to CS... long story short Brigitte stated that my May/ June delivery timeframe with FE interior was still accurate (no surprise) AND she specifically said that "all 3 interior colors are currently in production". That is a pretty specific statement. I don't believe she was giving lip service as the main reason for my call was to have her note on my account that I would consider BM interior if it pushed my delivery past June. Hopefully it was an accurate statement.

Thanks. I'm in the same boat as you. Run Forest Run!

It seems like they batched a bunch of R1T's with BM with the various exterior colors roughly according to how people had configured, then started having guides reach out to lock people in to a matching truck. Once your guide contact locked you in they shipped the vehicle and sent the purchase agreement for signature, then once it arrived at the service center they sent the 8 steps.

Since they had 1000+ R1T's staged at the factory we saw a ton of deliveries in the past two weeks. Now though I am reading that there are far fewer staged in Normal (<200) so I think we will begin to see OC, and FE interiors along with BM starting to be delivered within a few weeks but at a slower rate. If my hypotheses is correct I think their will be a longer time between guide contact to lock in the configuration and the signing of the purchase agreement.

I'll just add, the Customer rep I spoke with two weeks ago made a very similar and specific statement and directly said to me "I am here in Normal and there are Ocean Coasts on the line".... but the conflicting statements from reps and guides seem to keep coming in. It would be great to see just one OC delivery to put all the rumors to rest!

I think we're kind of at the point where the official forum position on anything Rivian says is "pics or it didn't happen."

Reminds me of the “Starbucks war on Christmas” phenomenon a few years back. ONE guy makes up some BS that their cup design was anti-Christmas, and ironically all we hear for days after is complaining about it as if there was any weight beyond one guy’s absurd speculation.
