1700 first drives in Atlanta, and a bunch of us on here weren’t on the list or were even told that they were outside the designated area? Who was getting these first drives!?! Booo! (Not really that mad)

This is why I'm convinced I won't even get to interact with one for several more months being in a non-major metro in the southeast.1700 first drives in Atlanta, and a bunch of us on here weren’t on the list or were even told that they were outside the designated area? It’s not always that simple. For example there was a door handle (made by outside supplier) issue of not quite matching the body color. That said, I were them, ramping up, I’d try and batch make as much as possible and why not start with the most common build to get issues worked out.Nah. It's the exact same material, just one is dyed a different color. It's like putting a green piece of paper in a printer vs a white piece of the same size/thickness, either way they're loading the same material it's just one is a different color. It shouldn't even slow the process down to do different interior colors, as it's the same interior.
If they're delaying OC it's a supply issue, ie.. they forgot to order it soon enough or the material they got in didn't meet QC standards. Or they want people to swap to BM to save money.
I'm doing math here and that's a tall order - unless they have a lot of trucks and staff to do them. At the absolute best case they can do one per hour - you're looking at 217 "man days" to get all of them done (if you figure 7 per day to give some buffer). The one piece of additional good news I picked up during the FIrst Mile Drive was that Rivian had 1,700 First Mile Drives scheduled in Atlanta - not in all of Georgia but just in Atlanta. I know other locations likely have more pre-orders but I was pleased to hear that number. A good sign that Rivian is making inroads across the country.
I am in the same delivery window for an R1s, Rivian Blue with Ocean Cost interior. First we hear that it will be a $2500 upgrade and that is walked back along with other price increases. Great result and PR, but now they simply eliminate the option by saying you will have to wait six months for a white interior. How can this be anything other than a bait and switch scenario. I don't believe they are being transparent in anyway and just for grins, why would a white interior be more costly in the first place! Very disappointing to hear this news. Next they will all be black paint, black interior, steel wheels and all look the same...or another year's wait. I am a share holder so I won't say what I really thinkI put down $2000 for an R1T and R1S on November 27th of 2018 and finally got a Rivian Guide to reach out to me. Talked to them yesterday and they reached out to me specifically because I selected the Ocean Coast interior they wanted me to know that unless I change to the Black Mountain it may be another 6 months to a year of waiting. He really could not lock down that timeframe. So I changed to the Black Mountain interior option with the Rivian Blue. Honestly disappointed but will put up with it. I wanted the lighter interior as where I live in San Diego the summers can get very hot, will be cooling down the truck from their app a LOT!
Now I am told it will be 1st or 2nd week of April to take delivery so that is AMAZING news!
I also ordered the camp kitchen, turns out those don't exist. As in outside a few demo units they do not exist. The guide has never seen one in person. Also there are zero reviews of them online from anyone but Rivian. I was promised a price lock for $5k on that when they become available. Attaching newest spec sheet.

For real. Said the 12/3/18 preorder holder in Kennesaw who has yet to get that invite.1700 first drives in Atlanta, and a bunch of us on here weren’t on the list or were even told that they were outside the designated area? Who was getting these first drives!?! Booo! (Not really that mad)
Yeah, I can't complain too much. I'm a July 1, 2021 R1S res with a 1H2023 delivery estimate. I know there are others like you out there, though, and it seems like y'all should get opportunities to do a drive s00n-ish!For real. I'm awaiting delivery this week or next. I'll post on the forum and set up a meet/greet when I get it.This is why I'm convinced I won't even get to interact with one for several more months being in a non-major metro in the southeast.
Take your time with it and no rush, I'm sure any other members in the Lowcountry will be very appreciative though since we are all in the same boat. The best chance we will have at a Rivian sponsored event is if they do a First Mile event like the Normal one in Atlanta or Charlotte with a generous radius for pre-order holders only and it doesn't sound like anything like that is on the horizon.I'm awaiting delivery this week or next. People with zero reading comprehension.curious: did they happen to explain why that specific interior was delayed? I get the supply chain is a mess but it seems oddly specific to an interior choice... and now I'm wondering about other, specific interiors that could be delayed (mine is Forest Edge, which I hear is bangin).
flaming people for asking a question—even those who missed a detail—is lame. have a nice day.People with zero reading comprehension.
A single guide said there was a 6 month delay, most likely to push out BM interiors by the end of q1.
Every other guide has said no delay.
It isn't a delay, it is a batching schedule.
