Rivian Spotted in Belgium... EU Manufacturing Plant?!

The photo attached was taken in Luik, Belgium about an hour drive from VDL Nedcar headquarters, a car manufacturer who has apparently been in talks with Rivian to build their EU cars. VDL Nedcar has built cars for BMW, Volvo and Mitsubishi.

Unfortunately, in the Netherlands there are protests about Rivian because VDL is tearing down a 200 year old forest to build a manufacturing facility to facilitate Rivian’s demands.

I think Rivian is close to building those European cars. Thoughts?

Interesting find. This would be a cheaper way for them to sell in the EU rather than going to the cost and time of building their own factory. Maybe they will go with Magna since they have a Magna executive as their new COO!

I forget where but there are Multiple references to VDL Nedcar several weeks/months ago as evidence confirming this but most likely the case for European expansion.

Must shift perspective. Parking on, not in. I.e. One R1T can park perfectly atop two Renault Twingo.

Sounds like VDL and maybe it is too late for them to change.
This contract manufacture route is best since I don’t expect them to sell many in Europe given the size and price.

Ok interesting since the R2 (or whatever it is called) is expected for 2024 and the Georgia factory. We will find out more later this year hopefully.

‘This hurts and flies in the face of everything that Rivian is promoting. An old growth forest is virtually irreplaceable.
