After signing my PBA for an R1S today, it would be awesome to be able to purchase or be (gifted) a photo book of my specific lunch edition vehicle being built. Too much to ask?

I think that option is only available for breakfast and dinner editions. Lunch edition comes with a lunch box with RJs photo on it.

The last thing I want to do when I go to a new Chinese restaurant is asking to go to the kitchen and see what is going on before having my "Lunch". It could ruin everything for me.

Frankly I would be much happier if they spend the photographer salary on quality control so I don't have to replace my drive unit right after I get it.

To OP: In case you do get those photos and decide to share them, remember when your friend showed you the yucky photos of their new born and asked you; "Isn't she adorable?" don't make your friends lie by sharing the photos of your R1's birth.

The cost of producing something like that would be enormous, especially if you want anything approaching good photography. And the benefits minuscule. I can kind of get being interested in production photos, but they're all gonna look exactly the same for any model of your color. The logistics of matching a random photo of a frame going down the line to a specific order would be massive.

We've all been waiting years, but it's not a baby. It's a mass-produced machine. I would be shocked if there was a real market for this.

Not too much to ask. As of now it would start pre-production in 2024, beta-testing 2026, delivery to employees 2028, first two photo books to CEO and CFO end 2029....and finally you'll get yours in the Jan/Feb 2030 delivery window.

I agree that there may not be much of a market for it, however UNTIL it is ACTUALLY a mass produced vehicle it would be a cool memento as a first owner. THe value would be worthless to anyone else other then the first buyer to keep.

Also I would welcome a behind the scenes look at Rivian factory, but NOT the back of a Chinese resturant. lol

Save the money and put the money towards the vehicle production.

To be frank with you, once the system is setup, it costs almost nothing to give you the photos. amusement parks had this setup on roller-coasters decades ago with a lot less tech than we have today. I wouldn't be surprised if each vehicle spot had an ID that could be matched to the VIN which could be matched to your account and digital cameras on the line could dump the associated photos to a folder somewhere that could automatically via an email be shared with you. In the grand scheme of everything else that is automated, it is not a huge deal except everything else do the work for thousands of people. You need to start having folks sign a petition. You already know where I stand. I don't even acknowledge the existence of any of my relatives under the age of 5 let alone looking at their sonogram.

I don't really get the appeal of something like this for a mainstream, line-built vehicle that has a relatively small pool of options. Seems better tailored to hand-built, highly customizable vehicles like a Morgan or Ariel.

Are you suggesting it's wise to have photo documentation of a baby being 'produced' :p
Entire entertainment industries have been been around this premise…

What if the baby is mass produced? Queen ants can produce about 800 babies per day.
At first I wondered if it is OK to take photos of baby ants but now I am thinking may be we need to get that Queen's resume to RJ and find a safe transportation for her to Normal.

You can tell I am not really good with this whole waiting thing.

Porsche enthusiasts pine for this, too but no go. Factory pick-up is pretty cool, though…
